Recently, the show hosted by Sean Hannity was on the news momentarily because of a commotion while shooting. Hannity was talking about an incident where a man allegedly put a black homeless man in a chokehold, eventually resulting in the man’s death; an audience member cheered at this news.
Sean Hannity is a recipient of multiple awards and has an honorary degree from Liberty University. He actually studied at both New York University and Adelphi University but did not graduate from either because of his desire to take up broadcasting.
We can say that he is sort of a controversial figure; for starters, he actually began his broadcasting career and first talk show at a college radio station, but he was dropped after a year for making controversial comments about the LGBTQIA+ community.
He also supported Trump during the 2016 presidential election. He also promoted many conspiracy theories, including the ones that claimed that Barack Obama was not a legitimate U.S. citizen and many others.
Personal Life and Career of Sean Hannity
Sean Hannity was born on December 30, 1961, to Lillian (who worked as a stenographer and a corrections officer) and Hugh HannityI (family-court officer). Hannity’s father is also a Worl War II veteran. Hannity did a variety of jobs before his career as a Television personality began. He started a house painting business in 1982, and later on, he worked as a building contractor.
As we mentioned, his initial talk show was when he volunteered for a college radio station at UC Santa Barbara, KCSB-FM. He was dropped from the show for his comments about Gays and Lesbians. He was taken back by the radio station after a protest by the Santa Barbara chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union. What is interesting is that instead of him giving an apology, he asked for an apology from the station for being fired when the station refused to do so, he decided not to go back again.
He used this as an opportunity and got employed at WVNN in Athens, Alabama. After leaving this station, he moved to WGST. In 1996, he was hired to co-host a talk show with Fox News titled Hannity and LTBD (“liberal to be determined”) because, at the time, they did not decide who the co-host would be), which turned to Hannity & Colmes after Alan Colmes got hired as the co-host.
He also has his independent show with Fox News titled Hannity’s America. In 2008, when Colmes left Hannity & Colmes, he compiled it with Hannity’s America and formed Hannity. While working for TV, he was also working for radio stations like WGST.
The viewpoints he put on his new shows are often conservative; there are rare times when he takes the opposite side, which has led to clashes with his guest and co-hosts. An example of this is his support for birth control, much to the displeasure of Pro-life guests of his show.
As mentioned, Hannity, while a television and radio personality, is also an author and has written many books that have seen success, like “Let Freedom Ring: Winning the War of Liberty over Liberalism, Conservative Victory: Defeating Obama’s Radical Agenda, and more. Seeing the title of the book, many can understand exactly what it contains and where his opinions stand.
