Is Maddie’s Mom Her Killer?
The finale episode of School Spirit opens up where the last episode was left off. Maddie suspects that her mother is the reason why she is killed and living in her afterlife.
She sends Simon to investigate the truth, and when Simon does, he finds out about Maddie’s necklace, which clears Maddie’s doubt that her mother has something to do with her disappearance. Later, Maddie asks Simon to call her mother into the classroom.
Finally, Simon takes Sandra, Maddie’s mother, to the classroom, where Maddie is sitting, which Sandra is unaware of. Certainly, Maddie is traumatized seeing her mother but expects honest answers from her.
Simon first asks general questions about Maddie to Sandra, telling her that she has to give a speech during the award ceremony to receive the award that Maddie has won.
However, Maddie forces Simon to ask Sandra about her necklace. Sandra sits, and we see Maddie remembering some things from the past. The reason why Sandra lied to everyone about the day Maddie died was because she was ashamed of what happened that day. In the flashback, we see Sandra using Maddie’s college funds to start a new life with her. However, Maddie gets hurt because it is the money kept by her deceased father for her.
Furious, Maddie tells her mother that she has not taken care of her since her father died because she cannot even take care of herself. Aggressively, she throws the necklace to Sandra, which her father gifted her, thinking that she should take everything that her father lovingly gave her.
Taking that necklace, Sandra leaves the boiler room, leaving Maddie crying in memory of her father. So, Sandra is not the one who killed Maddie.
What Happens to Teacher Martin?
While in the room, discussing what happened with Janet, Martin gets frustrated just remembering the day he died. He feels that, even though he saved his students’ lives, he is responsible for giving them those traumatic memories, which is why he thinks he failed his students. So, he does not want to fail anyone else, including the school spirits, whom he has been helping over the years.
Wally and Charley look up more information over the internet about Everett Martin and Janett as they strongly feel that there is some connection between them.
Soon they find out one news in which it is mentioned that to save the teachers and children of Spilt River High School, the school has been a part of the National Pilot Program, and they will build a fallout shelter in the chemistry lab where the fire happened in 1958.

Surprisingly, it is the same fire in which Mr Martin died. As Wally continues reading, both he and Charley discover that even Janet died in the fire. However, Mr. Martin only mentioned that he was the only one who was the casualty of the fatal fire.
In the fallout shelter, Wally and Charley finally get to know that Mr. Martin is experimenting creepily on the deaths of all the kids in the high school, and he is the one who is a bad person hiding more than what he says to others.
School Spirits Ending Explained
Xavier thinks that Mr. South is the one who is behind Maddie’s death. So, goes to his dad’s office to let him know that when Maddie disappeared, he was with Mr South. Xavier thinks that he is the real criminal and should be behind bars soon.
However, Xavier’s father disagrees with making a move as he probably thinks that even his son would get caught up in this whole Maddie disappearance thing. Xavier, Nicole, and Claire decide to find out who is behind the death of Maddie, thinking this is the least they can do for her.
As Xavier’s sheriff’s father gets the lead about the person who is breaking out into the houses in the town, Xavier manages to steal the address and reach the place with Nicole and Claire to look for the pieces of evidence to know who the killer is.
Three of them enter the house just to realize that there is someone else who has already broken down. Xavier goes behind that person, but he manages to run away after attacking Xavier. Nicole takes the video of the car in which the person ran away, and when she keenly sees the video, she finds out that it is Maddie who is doing this. On the other hand, Simon feels that Maddie is alive and that who he is seeing is just an imagination.
In the end, we again see the flashback of Maddie accidentally entering the fallout shelter where Mr Martin and Janet are. As soon as she enters the room, Maddie’s body gets possessed by Janet, and Maddie’s spirit gets out of her own body.
This end also suggests that Maddie is still alive, and the one who is breaking down in the house is Janet in the body of Maddie. So, in season two, it is expected that we will know the truth about the past life of Janet and why Mr. Martin is so involved with Janet even though he knows that she has possessed Maddie’s body.
