Japanese rock band SCANDAL has announced that it will end its activities on August 21, 2027, bringing the group’s 20-year run to a close. The announcement came shortly after the band celebrated its 20th anniversary with a concert at Osaka-Jo Hall on August 21, 2026.
Rather than ending immediately, SCANDAL will spend the next year performing together. The group will begin a final tour across all 47 prefectures of Japan in October 2026 before holding its last one-man concert at Yokohama Arena on August 21, 2027, the band’s 21st anniversary.
The announcement was made by the four members, HARUNA, MAMI, TOMOMI, and RINA, through the group’s official channels.
SCANDAL’s Final Year Will Include a Nationwide Tour
SCANDAL’s farewell journey will begin with the SCANDAL FINAL TOUR 2026-2027 “SCANDAL’s 47-Prefecture Tour.” The tour is scheduled to run from October 22, 2026, through May 1, 2027, with 52 performances covering all 47 prefectures.
The tour will give longtime fans across Japan an opportunity to see the band before its final performance. It also mirrors an important part of SCANDAL’s history, as the group previously completed a nationwide 47-prefecture tour in 2017.
The farewell schedule is therefore more than a series of final concerts. It gives SCANDAL an opportunity to revisit the country that supported the band throughout its career before the members take their final stage together.
Why SCANDAL Decided to End Its Activities
In their statement, the four members explained that ending a band they had maintained together for two decades was not an easy decision. After years of touring Japan and internationally, meeting fans and experiencing life as SCANDAL, they said they had reached the feeling that they had accomplished everything they could as a group.
The members wrote, “Deciding how to bring an end to a band that has been together for this long was truly difficult.” They added that after discussing the future repeatedly, the four eventually reached the decision to conclude SCANDAL’s story.
They also promised to approach the remaining year as a celebration of the band’s history, saying they would “cherish every show and every day” and continue performing together until the final moment.
Yokohama Arena Will Host SCANDAL’s Final Concert
The final chapter will officially take place at Yokohama Arena on August 21, 2027.
The venue holds particular significance as SCANDAL prepares to close a journey that began with four young musicians in Osaka two decades earlier.
