Han Jong Hee, Vice Chairman and CEO of Samsung Electronics, passed away on March 25 at the age of 63 following a sudden cardiac arrest.
According to reports, Han collapsed while resting over the weekend and could not recover. Known as a pioneer in TV development, Han played a crucial role in Samsung’s global leadership in the TV market for 19 consecutive years.

Han joined Samsung Electronics in 1988 and served in various leadership roles, including head of the Visual Display Business and Digital Appliances Division.

In 2021, he was promoted to Vice Chairman and head of the Device eXperience (DX) Division, overseeing the company’s consumer electronics, including TVs, smartphones, and home appliances.
Han was scheduled to deliver a keynote speech on March 26 to reveal Samsung’s Bespoke AI lineup, but his untimely passing has left the company and industry in mourning.

Samsung released an official statement:
“He led the global success of our TV business and remained dedicated despite challenges. We honor his 37 years of dedication and express our deepest condolences.”
Han’s memorial is being held at Samsung Medical Center Funeral Hall, with the funeral scheduled for March 27 at Sian Family Memorial Park.
