Saint X Plot Summary
The story revolves around a missing girl, Alison Thomas. She went on vacation with her family but was found dead in a very pity condition. Her younger sister, Emily, after getting bigger than before, wants to find the mystery behind Alison’s death. Recently on April 26, 2023, the series was released, and six episodes have already been released on Hulu. It is unclear if the story is based on true incidents and if the vacationing spot included in the series, Indigo Bay; it’s uncertain whether it exists or not.
Saint X is based on the Novel mentioned above, but the creators never said that it is based on a true incident. It might be inspired by a true story because there was a girl, Natalee Holloway, and her story is quite similar to Saint X. She was vacationing in Aruba around twenty years ago and went missing mysteriously. If Alison’s story is fiction, a few filming spots are fiction too. Let’s get into it to find out if it really is.
Where Can We Find Saint X Filming Locations?
The production of Saint X was majorly filmed in the Dominican Republic, which is located on the island of Hispaniola. It is in the Greater Antilles archipelago of the Caribbean region and is no doubt a very beautiful place in terms of landscape. A few scenes were beautifully illustrated at Santo Domingo, Punta Cana, Juan Dolio, Samana, and Bani. If we elaborate, Macao Beach at Punta Cana was an ideal place for a few shots. Next on the list of productions was Juan Dolio, where the maximum filmed was done. A few other HBO series production also turned their interest in these places to shoot brutal scenes.
There are a few city scenes in the series where the show shows the present days of the younger sister. The New York City that is shown in the series was filmed mostly in Brooklyn. Well, the series has still not concluded yet, so there aren’t many locations revealed, but yes, we can predict that the show will continue explaining Alison and Edwin’s relationship, and of course, we will get to know more about Clive. Also, by the end of the series, the production must have returned to Caribbean Islands since the story is just roaming from New York City to the fictional Indigo Bay Resort, Caribbean Islands, and back.

Is Indigo Bay Resort Shown In The Hulu Series Fictional?
The islands included in Saint X are fictional, and the author has her own explanation regarding this. The series shows that Alison and her family went on a vacation on an island, so the resort shown in the series is completely fictional. Indigo Bay Resort and the other islands look similar to Caribbean Islands, but no such places exist if we go on searching for them.
No doubt, if the shooting occurred on a real island instead of a fictional one, the outcome would be very natural and could get the cultural vibes of the Bahamas, Jamaica, Haiti, etc. But, the novelist didn’t want to target an island. Hence, for all the scenes, including paradisaical and Horrifying, she wanted to create a fictional world.
