Rurouni Kenshin 2023 Episode 1 Review
The first episode of Rurouni Kenshin 2023 delves into the life of Kenshin Himura. Kenshin’s violent past as an assassin is the first thing we discover.
Then, we quickly advance to the present, which is Tokyo in the eleventh year of the Meiji Era, where Kenshin meets Kamiya Kaoru. When Kaoru believes Kenshin to be a notorious criminal, Hitokiri Battosai, they have a chat that reveals Kenshin’s real identity.
They are interrupted by a nearby disturbance. In quest of a rumored Hitokiri Battosai imposter who is causing trouble and stabbing police officers with his sword, Kaoru dashes into the disturbance.
Kaoru bravely engages the offender with her Dojo sword while being hurt. She is stopped by Kenshin as additional police reinforcements arrive. The culprit briefly escapes after further police support shows up.
Kenshin tells her to take care of her injury and not go on any more excursions that night. The criminal’s deeds discredit Kaoru’s father’s Dojo organization. Kaoru is determined to apprehend the rogue who is using the Battosai moniker to preserve her father’s legacy and demonstrate the worth of her Dojo.
While acknowledging Kaoru’s viewpoint, Kenshin places more emphasis on protecting life than on defending a particular swordsman technique. Kaoru’s father created the swordsman technique known as Kamiya Kasshin Ryu.
Kaoru is dissatisfied and enraged when she comes across someone who kills in her father’s manner. Kaoru demonstrates her intellectual understanding of current happenings in the marketplace during their subsequent encounter.
Even though she is unable to actively pursue the culprit, her strong investigative mind is on display. In the pivotal scene, Kenshin is the only person there when the supposed criminal and his lackeys are faced. It becomes clear that honing her brain and analytical skills may be key to her success.
While acknowledging Kaoru’s point of view, Kenshin prioritizes saving lives over defending a certain swordsman skill. Kaoru’s father invented the swordsmanship style known as Kamiya Kasshin Ryu.
Kaoru is indignant and disappointed when she sees someone kill in her father’s style. Kaoru then demonstrates her knowledge of recent changes in the market.
In the story, Kenshin meets Kaoru in Tokyo and strikes up a relationship thanks to his upbeat attitude. Kaoru begs Kenshin to stay, her crying eyes expressing her sincere love for him.
Rurouni Kenshin 2023 Episode 1 combines seriousness with a strong sense of humor. By striking a balance between humor and seriousness, this episode gives the audience an interesting experience.
