Rosie O’Donnell is set to join the cast of “And Just Like That,” bringing fresh excitement to fans of “Sex and the City.”
Announcing her role via Instagram on May 1, O’Donnell revealed she will be playing a character named Mary in the upcoming third season of the series.
She shared a glimpse of the season’s first episode script titled “Outlook Good,” which is both written and directed by Michael Patrick King, confirming the show is back in production and set to return in 2025.
O’Donnell’s introduction comes after the departure of Sara Ramirez, whose character, Che Diaz, split from Miranda Hobbes (played by Cynthia Nixon) in the show’s second season. Ramirez reportedly exited the series in January.
HBO has been tight-lipped regarding Ramirez’s departure and also confirmed that Karen Pittman, who portrayed Miranda’s Columbia Law School professor and friend, Nya Wallace, would not return due to scheduling conflicts with other projects.
Fans reacted with overwhelming enthusiasm to O’Donnell’s casting news, expressing their excitement and support on social media.
This casting shakeup follows HBO’s earlier statement expressing regret over Pittman’s exit due to her commitments to other series, highlighting the challenges of balancing roles across multiple shows.
