Fans of Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World- have a new reason to look forward to August, as the anime has officially revealed a brand-new trailer for Season 4: The Recapture Arc. The next chapter of Subaru Natsuki’s journey will begin streaming on Wednesday, August 12, marking the continuation of the story following the events of The Loss Arc. Alongside the trailer, the production team has also released preview stills and a web preview for Season 4 Episode 12 (Episode 78), which serves as the opening episode of The Recapture Arc.
The latest promotional video revisits the devastating consequences of the battle in Priestella before teasing newly animated scenes and the arrival of a mysterious new enemy. The announcement comes during a milestone year for the franchise, as Re:ZERO celebrates the 10th anniversary of its TV anime adaptation in 2026. Based on Tappei Nagatsuki’s light novel series, which has surpassed 16 million copies in circulation worldwide, including digital editions, the anime continues to be one of the most popular modern isekai franchises.
The Recapture Arc begins Subaru’s dangerous new journey
The upcoming arc picks up after the deadly conflict in Watergate City of Priestella, where Subaru and his allies secured victory at an enormous personal cost. Rem remains trapped in an endless sleep due to the Authority of Gluttony, Crusch has lost her memories, and even Julius has had his very name erased.
Determined to reverse those tragedies, Subaru sets out in search of Shaula, the legendary wise being said to possess limitless knowledge. His journey leads him toward the Pleiades Watchtower, located deep within the unforgiving Auguria Dunes, a desert so dangerous that even the legendary Sword Saint Reinhard could not conquer it. Unknown mabeasts, harsh natural conditions, and new enemies await Subaru and his companions as they risk everything to reclaim what they have lost.
The newly released trailer highlights Subaru’s struggles throughout The Loss Arc before introducing fresh footage from The Recapture Arc, offering fans a first glimpse at the next stage of the story ahead of its streaming debut.
In addition to the main episode previews, the production team confirmed that a new mini anime episode will continue to accompany every main episode. Preview stills for the upcoming mini anime have also been released, while the full mini episode will premiere on the franchise’s official YouTube channel alongside the new chapter.
Season 4 features returning performances from Yusuke Kobayashi as Subaru, Rie Takahashi as Emilia, Inori Minase as Rem, Satomi Arai as Beatrice, and several other returning cast members. The anime is directed by Masahiro Shinohara at WHITE FOX, with original creator Tappei Nagatsuki serving as script supervisor.
The opening theme, “Recollect,” is performed by Konomi Suzuki feat. Ashnikko, while the ending theme, “Ender Ember,” is performed by MYTH & ROID feat. TK.
