Capcom has announced that the upcoming Resident Evil: Code Veronica remake has surpassed 2 million wishlists, highlighting the strong anticipation surrounding the long-awaited reimagining despite the game still being some time away from launch.
The milestone was revealed through the official Resident Evil’s X account, where Capcom thanked fans with a playful post that read: “2 million biscuits for the 2 million of you who’ve wishlisted Resident Evil Veronica, thank you.” The message was accompanied by promotional artwork referencing the newly announced remake.
Resident Evil fans are eager despite the game’s distant release
Although Resident Evil Code: Veronica originally launched in 2000 for the Dreamcast and sold fewer copies than several other entries in the franchise, it has remained one of the series’ most requested remakes. Fans have long praised its story, gothic atmosphere, and the return of siblings Chris and Claire Redfield, even as some gameplay mechanics have aged over time.
Much of the excitement also stems from the development team leading the project. Producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi and directors Kazunori Kadoi and Yasuhiro Anpo are all returning after working on the critically acclaimed Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 4 remakes.
Those previous projects modernized classic games while preserving their core stories, giving many players confidence that Code Veronica will receive a similar treatment.
Capcom has enjoyed significant success with its recent Resident Evil remakes, particularly Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 3, and Resident Evil 4, all of which introduced modern visuals, refined combat, and updated gameplay systems while remaining faithful to their source material.
