Reservation Dogs is back with a sophomore season of the same gang bored out of their minds in that old town. Still, they have new adventures and lots of things to say. This Hulu original series, produced by Taika Waititi, features an original story, an original Native American cast, and lots of laughs and tears to share with us.
After its two episode debut of the sophomore season to get us hooked, this series will switch back to a regular weekly airing, and today, we are sharing with you a recap from the past episode. Firstly, Elora sees Daniel in her dreams and kudos to the scriptwriters for bringing him back in such creative ways as we will see how each character’s perception of him morphs. Secondly, Willie Jack’s around bothering with a request, and lastly, the curse is lifted! So, let’s take a look at the episode to see what went down in detail.
Reservation Dogs Season 2 Episode 2 Recap
Elora and Jackie are fleeing from the men pursuing them in their car, who appear unconcerned about shooting a few Indigenous teenagers. The girls eventually give up and leave, and after being worn out, they continue their journey. From there, things go more smoothly (to a degree). They are welcomed into the house of Anna, a woman. Jackie notices Elora sobbing that evening. Because she steals Anna’s keys and nearly leaves without her, she may believe Elora lacks the fortitude to succeed. But something holds her back.
Daniel’s Apparition
Daniel appears in Elora’s dream and inquires why she chose not to bring him along. When Jackie dangles Anna’s keys in front of her face, she wakes up from the invention in which she is sobbing and remembering how she found his body. Do you feel unwell? Jackie is asked as they depart by Elora. Jackie claims, “I don’t feel bad about shit.” Anna watches from the window as they leave without their knowledge.
The teenagers later stop by Jackie’s mother’s house for a brief visit. Jackie receives money from her mother, who says little other than to advise her to give the reservation a shot. She requires it. Willie Jack’s efforts to lift the curse go on in the meantime, even without Bear. He runs into the delivery truck driver he and his friends once stole from while he was out looking for work. It turns out that he had known all along what Bear had done. He now has some words of wisdom for the guilty teenager. Build stuff, young man. Don’t knock them down.
Willie Jack
Willie Jack begs Jackie’s gang for some of Jackie’s possessions. They readily take some of their friend’s possessions and concur that a curse has circled them. Willie Jack and Cheese are brought to the river by Uncle Brownie and Bucky in the morning. The two men pray, but it really just acts as a forum for them to vent their frustrations on one another. They sing a song and throw Jackie’s belongings into the river, which works.
The curse has been lifted, according to Brownie’s vision of a Native Spirit (the same one that communicates with Bear). But the effects will linger within them until they deal with their own guilt. Willie Jack converses with Daniel’s portrait as the episode closes. She advises them all to make an effort to improve now that the curse has been lifted. But, she admits, “to be honest. It simply doesn’t feel like the end of it.”
