In a recent interview with Elle Korea, Red Velvet’s Seulgi shared her thoughts on preparing for her second solo album, Accidentally On Purpose. Seulgi explained that she focused on communication during the creative process, enjoying how various ideas blended together.
She described herself as playing the role of the “first mate” rather than the leader.
Talking about her title track Baby, Not Baby, Seulgi revealed that the song immediately sparked her interest.
“I felt there was so much I could express through this track. It allowed me to show a new side of myself,” she said, expressing her attachment to the song.

Seulgi also reflected on her deep connection with her Red Velvet members.
“They always support me no matter what I do. While working on the album, each of them checked in on me. As the second oldest, I want to be someone they can lean on, too,” she shared warmly.
Celebrating Red Velvet’s 10th anniversary last year, Seulgi looked back on her journey. She launched her own YouTube channel and hosted her first photo exhibition, exploring new creative outlets.
Describing herself as calm and collected, she admitted she still gets nervous before performances but focuses on staying composed.

“I try not to let anxiety control me. Expressing emotions matters, but I believe no one knows me better than I know myself. That helps me manage my feelings and stay grounded,” Seulgi added.
Her full photoshoot and interview are available in Elle Korea’s April issue.
