R-Type Tactics I-II Cosmos players on Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 have received two free downloadable content packs, giving commanders immediate access to additional units and cosmetic variations. Announced by NIS America, the free DLC is now available on the Nintendo eShop and can be downloaded at no additional cost.
The update introduces the ARROW-HEAD G (GRA Ver.) fighter along with its dedicated Standard Force G. At the same time, a second DLC pack unlocks several alternate-color versions of early-game units. Unlike standard progression, these additions become available instantly after downloading, allowing players to use them without spending in-game resources.
Free DLC adds new fighters and color variants
According to NIS America’s official announcement, the first DLC grants access to the RWF-9A [GRA] ARROW-HEAD G (GRA Ver.) and its companion F-A [GRA] Standard Force [GRA]. These are exclusive Granzella Revolutionary Army versions of the classic fighter and Force unit.
The second free DLC, titled the Unit Color Variation Fighter Pack, includes several alternate versions of popular early-game units. Players receive variants such as MIDNIGHT EYE BK, ARROW-HEAD BK, ARROW-HEAD RD, ARROW-HEAD GR, STRIDER BK, and the ARROW-HEAD Late Mass-Production Model, providing more visual customization options during the campaign.
NIS America stated,
“Once you download the DLC, you will be able to use these units without needing to expend resources.”
Players can equip the new units through Roster > Reassign Unit during the game’s Intermission phase.

More content arrives shortly after the game’s launch
The free DLC follows the recent launch of R-Type Tactics I-II Cosmos, which released in the West on June 18, 2026, for Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
Developed by Granzella and published by NIS America, the collection brings together R-Type Tactics and R-Type Tactics II, with the sequel receiving its first official Western release.
The package also includes enhanced visuals, multiple story campaigns, branching missions, competitive online play, and new post-game Cosmos content.
The latest DLC gives both new and returning commanders a few extra tools to experiment with as they continue battling through the game’s tactical sci-fi campaigns.
