Power Book III: Raising Kanan, which takes place in 1991, tells the tale of a young man named Kanan who must overcome adversity and carve out his own path while learning to survive in a world of glamour and politics.
The criminal series was created by Sascha Penn and debuted in 2021. A fourth season of the show has already been approved, despite the fact that it is currently airing its third. This is the story of Kanan, who has finally turned to violence to get revenge on his family—particularly his powerful mother, Raq, who rules the southern part of Jamaica.
Raq’s brothers, Marvin and Lou-Lou, are by her side to help her run her domain. Kanan has left his mother’s nest and gone on his own, not wanting to be under her guidance anymore, even though she still keeps an eye on him. Raq’s desire to protect her realm and Kanan’s desire to grow his own will lead to greater conflicts and outside threats.
Recap
We’re only a week away from the midpoint of Power Book III: Raising Kanan season three, and the tension is already mounting. In “In Sheep’s Clothing,” the fourth episode, Kanan is still doing well with his marijuana delivery service, but Raq puts everything in jeopardy.
She took matters into her own hands and decided to bring Kanan home by hiding a gun in his backpack. When a security guard discovered the gun in the backpack, he was taken into custody at the school.
Detective Howard’s assistance allows Kanan to avoid being arrested, but he is informed that he will have to move back in with Raq for the next six months as a social worker will be stopping by at random.
We also find out in this episode that Jukebox joined the girl group. She has to perform in front of label officials in a few weeks, so she rushes into practices. She seems happy about it, but it seems like the other girl in the group will cause more trouble than enjoyment. Before Kanan returns home, Raq puts a stop to her and Unique’s romance, and things are not going well in Unique’s house.
His brother Ronnie is getting frustrated with Unique’s lack of activity on the streets, and his girlfriend believes he is cheating. Ronnie decides to handle things himself and goes undercover to ask for assistance from people in Unique’s background. When they reveal what Ronnie has been up to, one of them gets killed.
Last but not least, Marvin and Lou-Lou are really happy this week. Marvin is grateful for Lou-Lou’s assistance in getting Jukebox ready for the audition and is enthusiastic about the singing career she will pursue. Lou-Lou is thrilled to be taking over a bar in Manhattan, and now that he has persuaded Marvin to work with him to upgrade the establishment, the experience will be even better.
In Power Book III: Raising Kanan, episode four, everything is going well for the most part—aside from poor Dean, of course—but we know that things won’t remain that way for long.
