The official Pokémon account on X was briefly hacked on August 27, 2026, with the unauthorized access being used to promote a cryptocurrency. The incident lasted for approximately 30 minutes, according to The Pokémon Company, before the account was secured and the suspicious posts were deleted.

The unauthorized post promoted a supposed Pokémon-themed memecoin and included a cryptocurrency address while referencing the franchise’s ongoing 30th anniversary celebrations. The message initially appeared to come from the official account, but fans quickly raised concerns about its legitimacy.

“Those posts were not created or approved by Pokémon and have been removed. We have secured the account and are investigating the incident.”
