A new Pokémon Winds and Waves leak has sparked fresh discussion within the community by claiming that Salandit could receive a brand-new evolution in Generation 10. While Nintendo and The Pokémon Company have not confirmed the report, the rumored evolution has drawn attention because of its unique Poison/Dragon typing and how well it could fit the region’s reported Southeast Asian inspiration.
The latest claim follows several other rumors surrounding Pokemon Winds and Waves, a title that has already been linked to underwater exploration, a weather-based battle mechanic, and what could become one of the largest regional Pokedexes in franchise history.
Although fans should treat all leaks with caution, the latest information has generated excitement due to its connection with an existing Pokémon rather than an entirely new species.
Leak points to a Poison/Dragon evolution for Salandit
According to Centro Leaks, citing information from multiple sources, including the well-known leaker Billy, Salandit is reportedly set to receive a new Poison/Dragon evolution in Pokémon Winds and Waves. If accurate, it would introduce only the fourth Pokémon in the franchise to feature that rare type combination.
Currently, the only Pokémon with the Poison/Dragon typing are Dragalge, Eternatus, and Naganadel. One is a Legendary Pokémon, while another is an Ultra Beast, making the combination one of the least represented in the series. A new evolutionary branch for Salandit would therefore add more variety while giving the Poison-type lizard a fresh competitive identity.
The rumored evolution has also fueled speculation because Southeast Asia is home to the Komodo dragon, an animal many fans believe could inspire several Pokémon in Generation 10. Earlier leaks have already claimed the games will feature a three-stage Komodo dragon Pokémon, raising questions about whether the creature is entirely new or connected to Salandit’s evolution line.

Rumor could expand Salandit’s evolution line
The leak does not specify whether Salandit itself will receive a regional form before evolving, though many fans believe such a redesign would fit naturally with the new setting.
It has also prompted speculation that Game Freak could finally introduce a male-exclusive evolution, balancing the current evolution system where only female Salandit evolves into Salazzle.
Previous rumors have suggested that Pokémon Winds and Waves could feature around 530 Pokémon, including approximately 300 new species, alongside regional forms and cross-generation evolutions. If those reports prove accurate, revisiting older Pokémon like Salandit would fit the broader theme of expanding the franchise’s roster.
As with all pre-release rumors, none of these details have been officially confirmed by Nintendo or The Pokémon Company. Fans should wait for future announcements before treating the leaked information as final.
