The long-awaited Apex Legends x Cyberpunk 2077 collaboration is officially set to arrive on July 14 at 10 a.m. PT, bringing one of gaming’s most recognizable futuristic worlds into Respawn Entertainment’s battle royale. Developed in partnership with CD PROJEKT RED, the crossover introduces a Night City-inspired version of E-District, brand-new Cyberware mechanics, a limited-time Wildcard event, and a Mythic version of the fan-favorite AI weapon Skippy.
The collaboration is more than a cosmetic crossover. Respawn has incorporated gameplay systems inspired by Cyberpunk, including Cyberware abilities and Cyberpsychosis, while redesigning parts of E-District to resemble Night City’s iconic skyline. Alongside gameplay changes, players can unlock themed Legend and weapon skins based on characters from Cyberpunk 2077 and Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, making this one of Apex Legends’ most ambitious crossover events to date.
According to both studios, the goal was to create an experience that feels authentic to both franchises rather than simply adding cosmetic content.
Apex Legends and CD PROJEKT RED aimed for an authentic Cyberpunk crossover

Respawn says the collaboration was built around the shared design philosophies of both studios, with a focus on immersive worlds and memorable gameplay.
Val Ayer, IP Product Lead at Apex Legends, said the teams invested significant effort into making every aspect of the crossover feel meaningful.
“I’m thrilled by what we were able to accomplish alongside CD PROJEKT RED in bringing Cyberpunk to Apex Legends. Both of our studios share many of the same philosophies when it comes to crafting compelling gameplay experiences and immersive worlds.”
Ayer also highlighted two major features of the collaboration: the transformed E-District map and the Mythic Skippy weapon.
“From the glowing corpo billboards to the looming moon overhead, the teams did an amazing job bringing Night City to life in E-District Night… we really pushed the boundaries of what’s possible with a Mythic Weapon through Skippy—he’s absolutely overflowing with personality (and sass).”
Patrick Mills, Franchise Content Strategy Lead at CD PROJEKT RED, echoed that enthusiasm, explaining that both studios carefully adapted Cyberpunk’s gameplay and atmosphere into Apex Legends.
“We thought carefully about how to translate both the world and gameplay elements from Cyberpunk in a way that felt natural, and the result feels pretty special.”
Mills added that bringing Skippy into Apex Legends was one of his favorite aspects of the collaboration.
Night City transforms Apex Legends’ E-District
One of the event’s headline additions is Night City E-District, a nighttime version of Apex Legends’ existing map infused with Cyberpunk’s signature neon aesthetic.
Players can expect towering holographic advertisements, glowing skyscrapers, holographic koi swimming through the skyline, glitch-inspired visual effects, and recognizable corporate influences throughout the district.
According to Eduardo Agostini, World Director, E-District already drew inspiration from Cyberpunk before this collaboration, making the crossover feel like a natural evolution.
“E-District was already loosely inspired by Cyberpunk’s Night City in many ways, so to be able to relaunch a night version that merges elements from Night City into the Apex Universe is something I’m really excited for.”
He also pointed to major visual landmarks, including the Arasaka Citadel takeover of Energy Bank and the redesigned Neon Square, saying the team wanted players to immediately recognize the influence of Night City.
New Cyberware abilities and Cyberpsychosis reshape gameplay
Beyond visual changes, the event introduces new gameplay mechanics through the Wildcard event.
Players will gain access to two Cyberware mods inspired by Cyberpunk lore:
Sandevistan grants rapid directional dashes, allowing players to chain two aerial dashes before touching the ground. The mobility tool can be used aggressively to close distance or defensively to escape danger.
Blackwall Breach temporarily phases players into the Net, allowing repositioning before returning with a disruptive blast capable of destroying enemy shields.
Lead Technical Designer Jesse Medellin explained that both abilities reference iconic characters from Cyberpunk: Edgerunners.
“The Sandevistan captures the power of speed that David learns to wield as he embraces life as an edgerunner, while Blackwall Breach showcases the devastating power a skilled netrunner like Lucy can unleash on nearby enemies.”
The collaboration also introduces Cyberpsychosis, a new gameplay mechanic tied to Cyberware usage. As players continue using Cyberware, their Cyberware Capacity meter fills. Reaching its limit triggers Cyberpsychosis, dramatically changing gameplay.
Players become significantly faster and gain devastating melee strength but lose access to weapons, abilities, shields, ordnance, and other equipment. Cyberpsychosis can be reversed using Immunoblocker Syringes or fully reset through Immunoblocker Caches found around the map.
Medellin explained why the mechanic was essential to the crossover.
“When we decided to introduce Cyberware into the Apex universe, we knew Cyberpsychosis had to be a part of the experience.”
He added that internal playtesting focused on balancing overwhelming power with meaningful vulnerability, creating dynamic moments where players must carefully manage their Cyberware usage.
Mythic Skippy headlines Cyberpunk-themed cosmetics
The cosmetic lineup is led by the Mythic Skippy Alternator, bringing one of Cyberpunk 2077’s most memorable AI weapons into Apex Legends.
Players can activate either Puppy Loving Pacifist or Stone Cold Killer mode, with Skippy delivering animated voice lines and reactive dialogue throughout gameplay. The Mythic weapon can also be upgraded using Exotic Shards, unlocking additional visual effects, ordnance skins, and unique knock effects.
Art Director Alisa Rastorgueva said Skippy represented an entirely new design challenge for the development team.
“This collaboration let us do something we’ve never done before: build a Mythic Weapon entirely around an existing character.”
She added that the team combined Skippy’s animations with voice lines to create one of the most interactive Mythic weapons Apex Legends has featured.
The event also includes a Reward Shop, where players can earn Eddies to unlock cosmetics, including the Arasaka Epic Valkyrie Skin, Kang-Tao Epic Mirage Skin, and other themed rewards.
In total, the crossover introduces eight new Legend skins for Axle, Sparrow, Lifeline, Crypto, Rampart, Loba, Ash, and Gibraltar, alongside eight Cyberpunk-themed weapon skins for the Wingman, Charge Rifle, Mastiff, L-STAR, P2020, RE-45, R-301, and Kraber.
Rastorgueva explained that each Legend was intentionally paired with Cyberpunk characters based on matching personalities and visual styles.
“We chose pairings with intention, matching both aesthetics and personalities between our Legends and CDPR characters… We can’t wait for you to run Night City’s E-District as Lucy.”
With gameplay mechanics, map changes, cosmetics, and interactive Mythic content arriving together, the Apex Legends x Cyberpunk event aims to deliver one of the game’s most feature-rich crossover experiences when it launches on July 14.
