Pokémon Champions is getting a major competitive update as Z Mega Evolutions officially join the battle-focused game. The feature was announced during the 2026 Pokémon World Championships, with the new content arriving as part of Regulation Set M-C.
The new regulation will take effect worldwide on September 9, 2026, and remain active until December 2. The update gives competitive players new strategic options through several Z Mega Evolution forms and their unique Abilities.
Z Mega Evolutions Bring New Battle Strategies
Among the newly revealed forms is Mega Absol Z, which has the Sharpness Ability. It increases the power of moves that involve cutting an opponent by 1.5 times, potentially making Absol a stronger offensive choice in competitive battles.
Mega Lucario Z comes with Aura Break, which reduces damage received from contact attacks by half. Garchomp Z instead gains Levitate, making it immune to Ground-type attacks while also protecting it from battlefield effects such as Stealth Rock, Toxic Spikes and Sticky Web.
The additions further reinforce Pokémon Champions’ focus on competitive battles. According to the game’s official description, players can experiment with familiar Pokémon mechanics, including types, Abilities and moves, while developing different strategies.
With Regulation Set M-C running for nearly three months, competitive players will have plenty of time to explore how Z Mega Evolutions reshape Pokémon Champions’ battle meta.
