When Phasmophobia was published in 2020, it took the internet and Twitch by storm. Since then, its popularity has only increased. Even when more players sign up to play it for the first time, and others play it regularly without getting bored, the game’s developer continues to improve Phasmophobia on a regular basis to ensure that everyone may enjoy it.
What players may expect as the major update to Phasmophobia is detailed in a recent post from Kinetic Games. By having group ghost-hunting techniques and a terrifying atmosphere, the Phasmophobia release caused a major sensation on the horror scene.
According to Kinetic Games, there were many plans at the start of 2022 about updating the gaming and other stuff, but it didn’t work out as it was planned. Now a new roadmap has been released because of the engineers’ problem, and thus, to keep the promises now, they are doing what they should have done in 2022.
In May 2023, the Kinetic Games released a new Phasmophobia roadmap that lists all the changes and feature additions planned for the coming year. The introduction of character customization, new tools, and a new prestige system are just a few of the developments developers have planned for this year.

Temperature freezing Update
Under the title “Preview #9,” the Phasmophobia firm has revealed details about the game’s thermometer that would be added in the “Progression 2.0” patch on Steam.
Also, in the statement, it was clearly mentioned about technology, which has been the major hole. It was Temperatures which is not matched, and “No Gameplay” which requires equipment. Now for the Thermometer, it is getting a new look or say, a makeover and will be offered in three tiers, including new models and an upgrade from the present one.
Players’ level reset
Progression 2.0 will have a Player level reset where all the players will start from level 0. However, the upgrade will allow users to display a badge that shows the level they reached in the previous version. One of Phasmophobia’s many useful gadgets, the D.O.T.S. Projector, would likewise have three tiers, and an earlier Steam post mentioned forthcoming updates to it.
As a reward for their dedication, they will give the players a Prestige 1 level, saving us the trouble of having to unlock our beloved items and areas again. The amateur ghost hunters will go out on their journey to phasmophobia from square one. Everyone will have an even and equal gaming experience because they will all need to unlock stuff at first.
They have also added an element to the revised progression system where a badge on our arms that proudly displays the levels we’ve worked so hard to reach. Also, they increase the thrill through flexibility. Each badge element is unlocked once we reach a certain level, at which point we are free to mix and blend them any way we like.

Custom difficulty update
They have made changes to the Custom Difficulty reward values. Players who don’t wish to compromise their custom games should find the game to be more evenly balanced and closer to the default difficulties.
In the custom difficult selection screen, a yellow warning icon will show up when one of these combos takes place. You can hover your cursor over an icon to see additional information about how it influences or is influenced by other options.
- The current maximum reward amount is 15x.
- The rewards of a number of options have been decreased.
- The specifications for the Apocalypse Challenges have changed.
- When two options are set to certain values and cancel each other out while still awarding you a prize, they have implemented rules to reduce benefits.
New Difficulties:
The player’s experience with Phasmophobia is modified according to their skill. There are five main levels of difficulty in phobias: beginner, intermediate, expert, nightmare, and insanity. Furthermore, original challenges can be created. Different player, ghosts, and contract difficulties come with different rewards.
- Amateur: A good start for Ghost Hunters. They designed the easiest setting for newcomers to the game who are still slowly learning its mechanics.
- Intermediate: The average player with a common understanding of the game’s fundamentals can handle this level of difficulty.
- Professional: This level of difficulty is intended for seasoned players that have a better understanding of the fundamental gameplay mechanics, ghosts, and investigative methods.
- Nightmare: This level of challenge is only intended for players that are extremely familiar with the game’s mechanics, have extensive real-world experience ghost hunting, and have a sound strategy or action plan, in particular, for teams.
- Insane: By the word, you can understand the level. So trying this one out will be a suggestion from our side because the ghosts don’t mess around here.
