Peta Murgatroyd and Maks Chmerkovskiy announce the expansion of their family. Congratulations!
Dancing with the Stars alum, Peta Murgatroyd, 37, revealed on Instagram Monday that she is expecting her third child with Maks Chmerkovskiy, 44, just seven months after the birth of their second son, Rio.
“We Are Having A Baby,” she wrote in her caption. “Yes we know…we just had a baby… haha! This was very unexpected at (4 months postpartum with Rio) but we are so happy and so ready to be a family of 5 soon!”
“Surprising [sic] @maksimc on this FaceTime with my two friends secretly filming from different angles made it all the more hilarious. It took one hour for me to get the courage to call him and when he wasn’t catching on we all couldn’t stop laughing in the kitchen. I had the ‘I’m so sick story’ the pickle and 2 bottles HAHA! Oh Maks,” she continued.
The expectant mother of three acknowledged the journey they’ve been through to reach baby No. 3.
“After everything we’ve been through with miscarriages and IVF, we’re beyond blessed and know we are uber lucky for this miracle to happen to us. We’re just so happy that we can finally tell you guys the good news”, Murgatroyd wrote.
Murgatroyd and Chmerkovskiy are already parents to sons Rio and Shai, aged 7. Shortly after Rio’s birth, the couple exclusively introduced him, revealing his name.
“We loved Rio, which we came upon at the last minute. It’s a perfect complement to our long surname!” Murgatroyd said at the time. “We also wanted something easy to say with Shai.”
The baby’s middle name, John, pays tribute to Murgatroyd’s late father, Derek John, who passed away in December 2022. In a September exclusive Murgatroyd and Chmerkovskiy discussed life as a newly minted family of four after welcoming son Rio in June.
Murgatroyd expressed the joy of transitioning to a family of four, emphasizing the precious and delicate nature of this stage. Reflecting on the bustling yet beautiful moments, she shared, “I just love this stage. It’s so precious. It’s so delicate, and you don’t ever get these stages back.”
Chmerkovskiy joined in, mentioning their initial anticipation for a girl, to which Murgatroyd added, “He’s our special boy.”
