Overwatch 2 is the follow-up sequel of Overwatch, which was released in 2016 as a first-person shooter game by Blizzard Entertainment. In 2016 the game came out first on PlayStation 4, Windows, and Xbox. In 2019 it was released on Nintendo Switch. They allowed cross-platform playing.
Overwatch 2 Season 1, which came out six years after the original launch, was released on Windows, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. Moreover, unlike the original Overwatch, the sequel is a free-to-play launch. So fans of the original game who were unable to afford it are also excited to have a taste of the gameplay.
What Is Overwatch About?
Overwatch was a hero shooter game where players were assigned to two teams of six, and each player could choose a character from the huge roster list with any unique abilities they preferred.
The teams were then given specific objectives depending on the map they were located in, where they would compete to fulfill objectives within a specific time period. The diverse roster of characters, the cartoon style, and the slick gameplay won Overwatch with great critical response.
The background behind the game is narrated through multiple animated short clips that the company released during the game’s promotion. The story is set in a future world where humanity has developed AI to achieve absolute equality.
These AI robots were known as Omnics. However, the automated facilities producing these units began producing units that began killing and harming mankind. So every nation began developing its own programs to avert the Omnic Crisis. The United Nations then stepped in and created Overwatch, combining these programs in order to restore order.
Overwatch 2 Features
One of the first and most important changes from Overwatch to Overwatch 2 is that Overwatch 2 is a free-to-play player-versus-player hero shooter game that provides a shared environment for players to play in compared to Overwatch which was a paid version with free upgrades except the loot boxes.
Another significant change is that teams will now consist of five members instead six like in the older version. New maps have been introduced, and damage-class heroes now have increased movement speed. Tank Heroes are also now able to take on a more offensive role.
The Heroes also have changes in their features to show that time has passed since the first game. Overwatch 2 also has a new player-versus-player mode called “Push,” which is somewhat similar to tug-of-war. It has replaced the Assault Mode. There will also be four cooperative missions against NPCs that will be available throughout the year instead of seasonal stuff like in the previous version.
Overwatch will also offer more than 100 Player versus Environment missions for the players to indulge in. Even the enemy types have been expanded, and unique behaviors have been given to them. Overall, these features look like a major upgrade compared to the old Overwatch, so fans are excited to try them out.

The special features of Overwatch 2 Season 1 Free Track are the Support Hero Kiriko, 2 Epic Skins, 1 Highlight Intro, 1 Weapon Charm, 2 Souvenirs, 14 Items including emotes, name cards, player icons, etc. and Prestige Tier Titles that will be available after the entire Batlle Pass is complete.

When Will Overwatch 2’s Season 1 End?
So the next concern for fans is when the first Season of Overwatch 2 will end. If a player misses out on a season or doesn’t level up on the Battle Pass enough, they will have to purchase that specific Hero and other perks with Overwatch Coins or through special challenges later on.
So it is important for players to know when the seasons begin and end. Overwatch 2 Season 1 began in October 4, 2022. Although we don’t know if the second Season will begin right after the first or if there is any gap, Season 1 will end on December 6, 2022.
