Yusuke Murata, the talented manga illustrator known for his work on One Punch Man and Eyeshield 21, recently shared a proud moment involving his eldest son.
Murata’s son placed second in a national high school bodybuilding competition in Japan, a prestigious event akin to the Koshien sports tournaments often depicted in anime.
Competing in the 170cm and below category, this contest attracted participants from all over the country to Tokyo.
Murata expressed his pride on social media, thanking everyone for their support in his son’s achievement.
Murata’s son, who is passionate about both illustration and bodybuilding, also posted about his accomplishment on his personal social media account.
Although he expressed some disappointment in not winning first place, he remains determined to keep working hard towards his goals. In his bio, he mentions his love for art and muscles and aims to reach 10,000 followers.
He even shared a video of himself striking several poses to the theme song of One Punch Man, THE HERO, reflecting his admiration for his father’s work.
Yusuke Murata has occasionally given glimpses into his family life, revealing in 2014 that he had a son and sharing a drawing the boy made at age seven.
In March 2020, he also showcased illustrations by his younger daughter, who was 10 years old at the time, including fan art for Toilet-bound Hanako-kun.
Murata’s legacy in the manga and anime industry continues to grow, with One Punch Man currently in production for its third season.
