In preparation for the One Piece Odyssey game which is set to release very soon as of this writing, fans are diving back into the old game adaptations of the franchise such as One Piece World Seeker and learning what might be in store for them in One Piece Odyssey.
One Piece World Seeker was released in March 2019 and almost 4 years later we are being presented with a new game. Let’s just hope that One Piece Odyssey gives the fans the Gear 5 transformation otherwise, the game won’t be as much worth playing. Well, at least for me.
Taking a look at the latest adaption of One Piece’s game that being One Piece: World Seeker, One Piece Odyssey might look very similar. And, we are ensuring that if the upcoming game is similar to One Piece: World Seeker then it might be worth playing to see what kind of side story the game is going to provide unless there is a gear 5 transformation.
With that being said, let’s see what One Piece World Seeker brought the fans back in 2019 and how it will compare to the upcoming game. Here is a review for One Piece: World Seeker and you should read it at least once before considering buying the game if you already haven’t.
One Piece: World Seeker Has A Good Story But The Gameplay Is Really Bad
What you can expect from an open-world game is to see a number of gameplay varieties as the story in the game progresses. Even the though the story in One Piece World Seeker progresses quite greatly with awesome new characters for the game written by none other than Eichiro Oda himself, the same isn’t for the mundane gameplay.
You will be finding yourself playing as Luffy for straight up to 20 hours or more depending on how you adapt the game which isn’t difficult, to be honest. What One Piece is known for and what it has kept on going even after 25 years is its characters even though there are such long arcs in the anime.
Watching a side quest from each character of One Piece is like witnessing almost a new anime and story. You’d expect that from 20 hours or more of gameplay in One Piece World Seeker, however, the biggest disappointment is you don’t. Even though straw hats are separated at the very start of the game, you’d only find them as NPCs with humor which is greatly implemented.
Having to play as each straw hat would be too much to ask from a game on a mere arc, but you’d at least expect to play as the top three of the straw hats. But no, One Piece World Seeker has Zoro on the franchise gag for the other as he is lost and Sanji is giving side quests which only adds to the misery of the long and boring gameplay.
The only side quest mission you will find enjoyable as per my research is meeting brook when he is mistaken for a ghost and you only find him to be as confused as you are. I cannot emphasize this enough, One Piece World Seeker does a great job with the humor.
About the gameplay that I have been saying bad things about is from an action-filled franchise as One Piece, this game provides provide few actions with repetitive moves of Luffy to defeat enemies who do not give you any challenge. Only after an hour, you will find yourself mashing the attack button to get through the obstacles in your way. You will, however, witness the Gear 4 and an emotional ending at the end of the One Piece World Seeker game.
Should You Buy One Piece World Seeker Before One Piece Odyssey?
Instead of spending the money on One Piece World Seeker, we’d rather suggest you spend it on One Piece Odyssey which might pack in a surprise with the launch of the game. So far from the leaks and the gameplay of One Piece Odyssey, it seems like the upcoming game has improved on the matter of the many campaigns of Straw Hats and there will be more diversity in the game.
If you surely have the money and the time to play One Piece World Seeker then surely you can get ahead and buy it and learn a different filler-type story. We’d highly not recommend it to the new gamers and the fans of the franchise who are new.
