Nintendo Direct on June 9, 2026 delivered another major anime gaming announcement, with Bandai Namco officially unveiling One Piece: Grand Gourmet. The newly revealed title brings a fresh twist to the beloved franchise, shifting away from traditional action gameplay and instead focusing on a restaurant management simulation set in the One Piece world. Scheduled for release on October 23, 2026, the game is coming to Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PC, and mobile platforms.
The announcement positions Grand Gourmet as a unique addition to the franchise, blending fan-favorite characters with cooking mechanics and customization systems. According to Bandai Namco Entertainment, the game aims to deliver a “whimsical” experience that captures the spirit of One Piece while introducing an entirely new gameplay style.
A New Direction for One Piece Games
Unlike previous One Piece titles that focus on combat and adventure, Grand Gourmet puts players in charge of building and managing a floating restaurant. Players will join the Straw Hat Crew, with Sanji taking a central role as the culinary leader guiding the experience.
Bandai Namco Entertainment explains that players will “turn no customer away” as they design and operate what is described as the ultimate restaurant on the seas. This shift in genre highlights a more relaxed, creative approach compared to the action-heavy games typically associated with the franchise.
The concept revolves around the Baratie Number Two, a floating platform inspired by Sanji’s iconic restaurant. This setting serves as the core hub where players manage operations, prepare meals, and interact with characters from across the One Piece universe.
Over 400 Characters and Unique Interactions
One of the standout features revealed during the Nintendo Direct is the inclusion of more than 400 characters from the One Piece series. These characters will appear as both customers and staff, each bringing unique interactions and events to the game.
Bandai Namco Entertainment states that players can experience “special character interactions that cannot be found anywhere else,” emphasizing the game’s focus on fan service and storytelling. The characters are presented in a stylized pixel art format, offering a fresh visual take compared to previous One Piece titles.

This approach suggests that Grand Gourmet is designed not only as a management simulator but also as a character-driven experience. Fans can expect to encounter both allies and rivals, all contributing to the restaurant’s reputation.
Cooking, Customization, and Gameplay Systems
The core gameplay revolves around cooking, menu creation, and restaurant management. Players will gather ingredients, develop recipes, and collaborate with Sanji to create signature dishes. The game features a wide variety of meals, including familiar favorites like Water-Water Meat BBQ and Sea King Penne Gorgonzola.
Bandai Namco highlights that players can experiment with dishes inspired by Devil Fruit powers, adding a creative twist to the cooking mechanics. This feature ties directly into the One Piece universe, making the gameplay feel authentic to the source material.
Customization also plays a major role in the experience. Players can design their restaurant using more than 200 decorative items, ranging from Whole Cake Island-themed elements to futuristic designs inspired by Egghead. The choices players make can influence customer behavior, with certain characters becoming regular visitors based on preferences.
