This confusion arose because the Visual Transponder Snails depicted the assailant as an indistinct, featureless blob in the manga. Fans speculated Saturn’s involvement for two main reasons.
Firstly, Saturn had already been confirmed to be en route to Egghead Island with Admiral Kizaru and his forces. With the Gorosei’s abilities still shrouded in mystery at that point, fans theorized that Saturn might have used some sort of teleportation power to strike and leave the island unnoticed.
Secondly, the inability of the Vegapunks to countermand the attack order given to S-Snake led fans to believe it had to be someone higher in the command hierarchy, like Saturn, since the Gorosei were the only figures known to outrank the Vegapunks at the time. This theory seemed more plausible than the idea that one Vegapunk couldn’t override another’s command.
Although this debate was never central to the story, it sparked considerable discussion among manga readers due to its implications for Saturn and Gorosei’s abilities. However, the latest anime episode settles the issue conclusively.
The security camera footage shown in the episode distinctly identifies the assailant as S-Snake Seraphim, thanks to the shape of her head and hair, as well as her apparent height in relation to the camera’s perspective.
These details, coupled with her immediate appearance following the attack, confirm beyond doubt that it was indeed S-Snake, not Saint Saturn, who attacked Vegapunk Pythagoras. This definitive depiction has put an end to the speculation and provided a clearer understanding of the events in the Egghead arc.
