The latest installment of the popular manga series revealed additional background on the agreement made between the character Bartholomew Kuma and the brilliant but ethically dubious scientist Dr. Vegapunk. We finally have the One Piece Chapter 1101 Spoilers.
In hopes of healing his terminally sick daughter Jewelry Bonney, Kuma consents to alarmingly inhumane demands – he must completely surrender both his humanity and personal agency, transformed fully into a robotic weapon under the World Government’s control.
In this newest chapter, we learn that Kuma and Vegapunk spent six months together on the remote Egghead Island, the site of Vegapunk’s research base and disturbing experimental activities.
Meanwhile, the high-ranking Navy officer Kizaru and his subordinate Sentomaru are shown unexpectedly bonding during their posting there, developing a surprising camaraderie.
After Bonney’s medical treatment, Kuma, now recovering but kept unaware, is instructed by Vegapunk to leave her protection to the kingdom of Sobert. The cipher pol agency CP8 has covertly assigned its agent Alpha to monitor Bonney under this new arrangement.
Word begins circulating globally about Kuma’s shocking new status as one of the Seven Warlords. The gripping final scene shows Kuma ominously approaching Foosha Village, foreshadowing the World Government now remotely puppeteering their new human weapon.
One Piece Chapter 1101 Spoilers
So the next chapter is going to be titled, “Dear Bonney”.
The vibrant cover illustration depicts the enigmatic Dr. Vegapunk prominently at the center, surrounded by his multiple human clones as well as the ominous weaponized entity Vegaforce-01 looming above.
To Vegapunk’s right stand two clones – the female Lilith and the male Pythagoras. On his left are the intellectual Atlas and ingenious Edison clones. Their positioning highlights Vegapunk as the prime figure.
In the background, the faces of two additional clones peer from either side – on the right, the meditative York, and on the left, the cryptic Shaka. Towering over all of them at the top is the hulking mech Vegaforce-01, Vegapunk’s powerful robotic creation.
The striking cover art provides visual insight into Vegapunk’s experiments while foreshadowing future revelations in the story involving his clones, his towering weapon Vegaforce-01, and the mysteries still hidden on the remote Egghead Island.
Dragon Believes Luffy Poses a Threat to His Strength
The chapter opens with a brief glimpse into the past within the existing flashback timeline. Bartholomew Kuma recalls joining Dragon on a mission trip to Goa Kingdom with the Revolutionary Army. Kuma mentions noticing how extensively familiar Dragon seemed with the country.
Kuma further recounts Dragon once visiting a small village outside Goa to secretly observe a particular young boy. When Kuma presses Dragon about this, Dragon sternly warns – “Keep talking if you wanna die.”
Taken aback, Kuma asks “Why?” To which Dragon cryptically responds “A child…is the parents’ weakness.” Kuma then drops the matter, understanding Dragon’s desire for privacy around this child.
This tense exchange highlights Dragon’s protectiveness and hints at a significant connection between Dragon and this unspecified child from a remote village. Kuma’s recollection foreshadows forthcoming revelations about a figure from Dragon’s past that remains veiled in mystery.
Kuma Findsout About Luffy
The flashback timeline then resumes where the previous chapter left off, with Bartholomew Kuma covertly observing a 16-year-old Luffy secretly training at Mount Colubo. Luffy practices his “Gum-Gum Battle Axe” attack – the same move he’ll later use to defeat Arlong.
Suddenly, Kuma receives a call from the World Government and abruptly vanishes. An unaware Luffy senses a fleeting ominous presence, assuming it’s some powerful creature. “There must be some really strong animal in this forest that I have yet to defeat!” Luffy declares.
Kuma is shown leaving Dawn Island to carry out the Government’s directives, helping some merchant ships by defeating the pirates attacking them and forcing their surrender.
Throughout the chapter, Kuma narrates wistful letters to his daughter Bonney, expressing his deep fatherly love while describing the many wondrous islands he has visited that they will explore together one day. These letters highlight Kuma’s devotion as a loving father despite the dark path ahead.
However, it’s revealed that all of Kuma’s heartfelt letters were secretly intercepted in the Sorbet Kingdom by CP8 agent Alpha before reaching Bonney. She waited in vain, never receiving her father’s promised letters.
Bonney hides the extent of her special time-manipulation powers from Alpha and the medical staff per Conney’s advice to “conceal one’s claws like a wise hawk.”
At Vegapunk’s lab, Kuma encounters the clone of former Cipher Pol agent Stussy. She somberly wonders – “Who suffers more misfortune – one robbed of consciousness or one granted it?” Vegapunk insists she’s human but the statement hints at Kuma’s impending lost humanity.
Vegapunk, face still bandaged from the explosively failed SMILE experiment, explains once Kuma’s modification process is completed in a year, no memories or emotions will remain. However, he will preserve Kuma’s awareness until the end.
We see Kuma occasionally aiding the Revolutionaries in utter silence, concerning his comrades about this behavior change. But they suspect Kuma has reasons for not confiding in them currently.
The contrast between Kuma’s stolen chances to connect as a father and the encroaching disconnected future as the World Government’s human weapon comes into sharper focus.
Alpha refuses to release Bonney until she turns 10
In the Sorbet Kingdom, Bonney marks her 9th birthday but Kuma’s expected letters still mysteriously never arrive. A year after her treatment, although fully recovered, Alpha refuses to release Bonney until she turns 10.
Conney learns from a chatty medical team member in a bar that Alpha and the doctors actually covertly work for the World Government, realizing Bonney’s situation is suspicious. Conney plots Bonney’s escape with the kingdom’s mightiest fishermen.
The fishermen remodel a ship to resemble a pizza, Bonney’s favorite food, to transport her safely across the sea in search of her father. Conney and Bonney switch outfits allowing Bonney to evade detection until Alpha notices and pursues using swift aerial movement techniques.
Alpha threatens violent capture if Bonney doesn’t surrender, but the craftiness of the Sorbet Kingdom residents may still enable her getaway as the chapter ends on a cliffhanger.
The contrast heightens between Bonney’s hopeless isolation and the lengths her father’s people will go to reconnect her with Kuma before he loses all traces of the man she knew.
Bonney also has the powers of Nika
In the climactic final moments, a childhood memory flashes where young Bonney once asked her father Kuma to describe the mythical warrior Nika.
Kuma replied that while unsure exactly, he knew Nika remarkably had a rubbery body allowing him to fight freely as desired.
Inspired by this, Bonney activates her special “Distortion Future” time powers, declaring, “The future where I become like Nika!”
The chapter concludes with an epic scene where Bonney coils back and punches the shocked Alpha with a gigantic, Luffy-esque inflated fist, mimicking Gear Third’s punch. Having fended off her pursuer, Bonney successfully escapes from the Sorbet Kingdom at last.
This triumphant and creative finish poetically calls back to Kuma’s moving words about freedom-fighting Nika, a heroic figure who we know embodies liberation.
By emulating Nika in her getaway, Bonney grasps independence her father won’t receive, now foreshadowed to someday cross paths with Luffy.
In closing narration, we learn the World Government promptly discovers Bonney, their former captive bargaining chip, has escaped their clutches.
Her modest fishermen’s vessel sailing in search of her lost father soon evolves into a formidable pirate ship, foreshadowed to be a rising power of the post-Luffy era on par with the other bold outlaw fleets.
Thus Bonney’s liberation not only frees her from the government’s grip but also initiates her onto the destined grand seaborne stage.
The narration paints Bonney as the next generation’s pioneer to carry on the spirit of rebellion and adventure embodied by contemporaries like Luffy. Though her father tragically falls under shadowy powers’ sway, Bonney’s future burns bright sailing towards freedom’s horizon.
Recap and Review
Admiral Kizaru has arrived at Dr. Vegapunk’s new secret laboratory to speak with him directly per orders from Saint Jaygarcia Saturn. However, they are unaware that covert Marines like X Drake have already secretly planted surveillance of Den Den Mushi within the facility.
Saint Saturn reveals to Vegapunk that he knows about the illegal negotiations the scientist has been having with a particular pirate.
Likely as leverage, Saturn indicates he will allow Vegapunk’s deal with the pirate to continue if several additional conditions are met regarding the modifications to Bartholomew Kuma.
Specifically, Kuma must join the Shichibukai to replace a former member recently defeated by Fire Fist Ace.
Additionally, Kuma must undergo invasive cyborg enhancements to transform him into a human weapon devoid of free will or memories – essentially a programmable fighting machine.
Vegapunk strongly objects to fully wiping Kuma’s mind, as it would be akin to murdering who he is. However, the Saint insists the scientist has no ground to argue, given his precarious position.
In an unexpected twist, Kuma joyously accepts the conditions if it means protecting the mysterious Bonney after her intensive treatment.
Vegapunk then clarifies that Bonney’s modifications will take 6 months initially, plus a full year of recovery. Meanwhile, Kuma’s more extreme cyborg conversion will require 2 full years.
