One Piece Chapter 1098 Spoilers
The latest installment of the beloved manga series One Piece contains some incomplete artwork, as creator Eiichiro Oda apologizes in a note that he was unable to finish all the drawings on time. Readers are warned that some panels are just sketches.
The story follows Ginny, who was kidnapped and forced into marriage with an unseen Celestial Dragon. Her entire Revolutionary Army unit was wiped out in a surprise ambush by the World Government forces. After Ginny’s capture, the Army becomes more ruthless and aggressive in their ongoing battles.
Ginny’s Forced Marriage
We see the Revolutionary Army rescuing people from the Goa Kingdom before Kuma uses his powers to teleport to another island and single-handedly ends a clash there. The shocking reveal is that Jewelry Bonney is actually the child born to Ginny and the Celestial Dragon she was compelled to wed against her will.
Years after being taken, Ginny gets a rare sickness called Sapphire Scale. It makes your skin turn blue and hard like a rock when you go in the sun. So Ginny looks very different now.
In chapter 1098, Ginny is let go since no one recognizes her anymore. We don’t see her face at all, and she just talks offscreen. Ginny goes back to the Sorbet Kingdom and leaves Bonney with the elders there.
Rescue and Shocking Revelations
Then Ginny goes to the church where she lived with Bartholomew Kuma. She calls the Revolutionary Army from there. She says she really wanted to see everyone again, but this is goodbye instead. Ivankov and Kuma are shocked. Kuma says he thought he’d never see her again and that he’ll go to her right away.
In chapter 1098, the Revolutionary Army finds out where Ginny is. So Kuma uses his powers to go to the Sorbet Kingdom. The spoilers say Ginny’s last words to Kuma were, “I love you.” But he didn’t hear since he was already teleporting. When Kuma gets there, Ginny is already gone. He buries her.
Sapphire Scale Sickness
Kuma decides to raise Bonney with the elders. He also keeps helping the Revolutionary Army, teleporting to them sometimes. We see him training young Sabo.
But then Bonney gets the Sapphire Scale sickness, too. So Kuma leaves the Revolutionary Army to take care of her. Dragon says okay, and he’ll ask doctors if they can help Bonney.
In chapter 1098, Kuma decides that Bonney has to stay inside the church to avoid sunlight, which makes her illness worse. He brings her books about different islands and asks where she’d like to go, pretending she could travel.
Kuma and Bonney live happily together as father and daughter. We learn that her nickname “Jewelry” comes from Kuma because of the blue gem-like scales on her face from the sickness.
Father-Daughter Bond
The flashback jumps ahead 6 years. Bonney is now 5 years old. Kuma spoke with a doctor about her illness. The doctor reveals that it will continue progressing as she ages, even without sunlight exposure.
Unbeknownst to Kuma, Bonney overhears part of this conversation. She thinks she’ll be cured when she turns 10 years old. Kuma doesn’t correct her, unable to break his promise that she’ll be cured someday.
The flashback jumps ahead 1 more year. King Bekori returned to the Sorbet Kingdom and started killing citizens. People beg Kuma for help against the tyrant king. The chapter ends by announcing a break next week.
The upcoming One Piece Chapter 1098 will be available to read on Manga Plus, along with all the previously released chapters.
