Regarding Vegapunk, imagery of his bloody, battered body after a lethal explosion conveys his death as all but certain.
As for Luffy, panels depict him utilizing his Gear 5 form yet wearing an unprecedentedly stoic facial expression as he fights, suggesting a heightened level of seriousness and focus in this confrontation.
Vegapunk’s Death All But Certain
Chapter 1108 provides the names of the nine Vice Admirals currently battling Luffy’s allies – Bluegrass, Doberman, Hound, Guillotine, Urban, Red King, Tosa, Pomsky, and Doll.
They are depicted fighting against the Pacifista army or pursuing the Straw Hats subgroup comprised of Franky, Jewelry Bonney, Bartholomew Kuma, and Vegapunk Atlas.
Notably, Vice Admiral Tosa nearly captures Bonney but is thwarted when giants Dorry and Brogy intervene to attack him and facilitate her escape.
Dorry and Brogy then introduce themselves to Franky’s team before handing them off to other giants who will ostensibly transport them safely to the Giant Warrior Pirates’ ship.
The chapter also spotlights Vice Admiral Bluegrass harnessing her Devil Fruit ability to control a weaponized sea beast which she rides into battle accompanied by Doll.
The raw scans depict Saint Jaygarcia Saturn returning to confront Luffy’s group, now transformed into a more spider-like form after shedding the humanoid upper body he previously had.
His legs now appear venomous as well, as he’s shown lightly stabbing a tree that subsequently rots into a black sludge, demonstrating their potency.
Saturn proceeds to launch an attack on Luffy’s party, which Sanji intervenes to block, saving Dr. Vegapunk from harm.
However, Kizaru exploits the opening to violently kick Sanji and impale Vegapunk with a light blade, inflicting grave injury.
Witnessing this, Luffy is shocked and distressed before deciding to shift into his titanic Gear 5 form, growing giant-sized.
Luffy Vs. Kizaru & Saturn
The raw scans open with the cover page showcasing Nami, Uta, Boa Hancock, Tashigi, Vinsmoke Reiju, and Nico Robin festively drinking together in elegant attire.
When the main story begins, Blackbeard Pirates Van Augur and Catarina Devon are depicted continuing their wary conversation with shady informant Caribou, seeming distrustful of him but their ultimate decision is unclear.
The scene then shifts to Marines battling Pacifista units, whose Bubble Shield ability grants a defensive advantage.
In a pivotal moment, the scans display a visibly enraged Luffy grabbing and squeezing Admiral Kizaru in one massive hand, even making him cough blood.
Luffy restrains Saint Jaygarcia Saturn as well by clutching his face with his other colossal hand.
As Sanji extracts the injured Kizaru, the Admiral initiates transmitting a message via Punk Records technology while his physical body stays unresponsive.
More About One Piece
The expansive world of One Piece is inhabited not only by regular humans but also by a diverse array of other intelligent species. These include dwarves, giants, fishmen, merfolk, long-limbed tribal peoples, a long-necked Snakeneck Tribe, and assorted animal-human hybrids known as Minks.
Governing this diverse world is an intercontinental World Government organization, consisting of member nations aligned under their authority.
Their military force, the Navy, safeguards the known seas from piracy and other threats. The covert Cipher Pol agencies also operate as the World Government’s secret police.
While pirates are major adversaries, the subversive Revolutionary Army poses the greatest challenge to World Government rule, actively seeking to overthrow it.
A central ongoing tension pits the World Government and Navy against an array of pirates of varying dispositions – ranging from cruel villains to those who simply refuse to submit to the Government’s often dubious authority.
The world also possesses distinct supernatural qualities. These include Devil Fruits, which grant transformative superhuman abilities, as well as Haki, a spiritual energy said to originate from willpower that manifests varied combat-oriented effects and bypasses certain Devil Fruit defenses.
