Bandai Namco Entertainment America has announced Ondeh Ondeh Kaya’s Tasty Tale, a new rhythm and puzzle action-adventure game from Malaysian developer Metronomik. Set for release in 2027, the game aims to combine music-driven gameplay with exploration, combat and environmental puzzles while drawing heavily from the diverse cultures and cuisine of Southeast Asia.
The game follows Kaya on a coming-of-age adventure centered on family, courage and self-discovery. Her goal is to become a Worldbuilder like her parents, but earning that title requires her to complete a major test involving the Giants scattered throughout the world.
The announcement also highlights the importance of Southeast Asian heritage to the game’s identity. Even its title takes inspiration from ondeh ondeh, a traditional sweet snack, while the adventure incorporates regional music, food and other cultural elements into its colorful world.
What to Expect From Ondeh Ondeh Kaya’s Tasty Tale
Players will control Kaya as she travels across the world searching for the Giants. To complete her Worldbuilder certification, she must gather them all and perform the Renewal Ritual, an important ceremony designed to rejuvenate the flavors of the world.
Kaya is equipped with a trusty Spoon and the mysterious powers of the Ondeh. These abilities allow her to interact with different parts of the environment, tackle puzzles and confront the eccentric creatures encountered during her journey.
Music is a central part of the gameplay rather than simply an element of the soundtrack. Players will need to follow the rhythm and tempo to navigate environments, open new routes and strengthen Kaya’s abilities. The rhythm mechanics are integrated with exploration, puzzle solving and combat, making timing an important part of progressing through the adventure.

Metronomik is developing Ondeh Ondeh Kaya’s Tasty Tale, while Bandai Namco Entertainment America is handling its announcement and publishing presence. The game is scheduled to launch in 2027 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC through Steam.
The announcement trailer offers the first look at Kaya’s colorful adventure and establishes the game’s distinctive combination of rhythm-based mechanics, fantasy exploration and Southeast Asian-inspired aesthetics. More information about gameplay, characters and the game’s exact release date is expected to be revealed closer to launch.
