Nintendo’s Majora’s Mask digital collectibles arrive just weeks before Ocarina of Time’s Switch 2 remake, adding fresh fuel to long-running remake rumors.

Nintendo is once again putting The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask in the spotlight, and the timing has fans wondering whether the classic adventure could be next in line for a modern remake.

Starting October 4, the Nintendo Today! app will feature new Majora’s Mask digital collectible cards, following the previous Breath of the Wild-themed cards.

Majora’s Mask Gets the Spotlight Before Ocarina of Time

The timing is particularly interesting because Nintendo is preparing to release The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time on Nintendo Switch 2 on November 5, 2026. The remake features overhauled visuals, expanded dialogue, fully voiced cutscenes, improved controls, refreshed audio and several new features.

Nintendo has not announced a Majora’s Mask Switch 2 remake, but several recent developments have encouraged speculation. An IMDb listing currently identifies The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask HD as a video game in post-production and includes Nobuyuki Hiyama, associated with Fierce Deity Link motion capture. However, IMDb listings are not confirmation of an official Nintendo project.

The connection between the two games makes a potential follow-up especially appealing. Nintendo’s official Zelda history explains that Majora’s Mask follows the events of Ocarina of Time, with Link entering the parallel world of Termina and facing a catastrophic threat from its falling moon.

Nintendo has also confirmed that its Zelda 40th Anniversary celebrations will continue through 2027, giving the company plenty of opportunities to reveal additional projects. For now, the Majora’s Mask cards are simply another Zelda anniversary feature, but their arrival has inevitably reignited speculation about what Nintendo could remake next. Nintendo of Europe SE

No Majora’s Mask remake has been officially announced, so fans should treat the current clues as speculation rather than confirmation.
