Nintendo Switch Online could be preparing a new Event Gifts system for Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch. A recent datamine of the Nintendo Switch Online app has uncovered references to functionality that appears designed to distribute rewards during limited-time events.
The discovery was shared by X user idocode01, who found evidence of the feature while examining an updated version of the Nintendo Switch Online app. According to the findings, the system could support several gift events running simultaneously, with individual events potentially featuring their own videos, thumbnails, and other assets. Nintendo has not officially announced the feature, so its exact purpose and release timing remain unknown.
Nintendo Switch Online Event Gifts Could Support Multiple Events
The datamine reportedly includes more than references to event pages. It also contains a loading animation and a dedicated sound effect for receiving an event gift, suggesting that at least some of the underlying functionality has already been implemented.
However, these discoveries do not confirm what Nintendo intends to distribute through the system. Potential rewards could take different forms, but there is currently no official information confirming whether the gifts would include digital items, game-related rewards, or other content.
The discovery is particularly notable following Nintendo’s recent expansion of event-based features for Nintendo Switch Online.
Nintendo introduced the DK Challenge for Nintendo Switch 2 in June 2026. The limited-time event allowed Nintendo Switch Online members to complete challenges across Donkey Kong games and Donkey Kong Bananza to collect digital Challenge Cards.
Nintendo also confirmed a physical 39-card collectible set for eligible U.S. participants who completed the entire challenge.
While the new datamined Event Gifts system has not been connected to the DK Challenge, its discovery suggests Nintendo may be developing additional infrastructure for distributing rewards tied to future events.
