Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 owners may soon have another way to revisit the Hoenn region. A new rumor claims that Pokémon Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald could be released on the platforms in late September or early October 2026.
According to the source, the information comes from leaker Shpeshal Nick, who suggested that Nintendo is preparing the three classic Pokémon titles for its current hardware.
Pokémon Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald May Be Next
The rumored releases would follow Nintendo’s recent arrival of Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen, giving players another opportunity to experience an older generation on modern hardware. However, Nintendo has not officially announced Ruby, Sapphire, or Emerald for either Switch system, so the reported September or October window should be treated as unconfirmed.

If Nintendo follows the approach used for FireRed and LeafGreen, the Hoenn games could be digital releases rather than full remakes. That would likely mean the original gameplay and visuals remain largely intact, with adjustments made to accommodate modern displays and potentially minor changes to presentation.
The rumor is particularly notable because Nintendo has yet to bring Pokémon Gold, Silver, and Crystal to the Switch family, making a jump directly to Generation 3 somewhat unexpected. For now, fans should wait for an official announcement before treating the reported release window as confirmed.
