We have been expecting The Nintendo Switch sequel for a very long time. It was 2017 when they released the first Nintendo Switch. Now having almost seven years, Nintendo Switch 2 announcement is the only thing that can make your day, especially if you are a fan of this gaming console.
Well, it isn’t like they haven’t released anything. Nintendo Switch Lite and Nintendo Switch OLED Model are the two models they released, and they grab a lot of attention, but the real question is- where is Nintendo Switch 2?
So thankfully, there are a lot of raging rumors regarding the Nintendo Switch 2, but there is no confirmation regarding the name “Switch 2”. But definitely, a true successor will be seen by the Japanese team.
With more than 125 million units shipped to date, the Nintendo Switch is the company’s best-selling home console ever. Only the Nintendo DS, with 154 million sales, is a piece of hardware that Nintendo has produced and has performed better than the Switch. Given its popularity, there is a good chance that they will release the Nintendo Switch 2.
To compete with the best TVs currently on the market, we’re hoping to see significant power improvements, an OLED screen as the norm, and 4K output capabilities. Now let’s have a detailed view of all the facts, price, and release date, not leaving a single trace of the console info.

Nintendo Switch 2 – Release date
The Release date is yet to be confirmed, but Nintendo Switch 2, which is probably the name of it, 2024 is the very gutful release date that we are expecting from them to launch the new device. It is said, and according to the sources, the device may launch at the time of the PS5 Pro launch.
On March 3, 2017, the original Switch went on sale. The Nintendo Switch Lite was introduced on September 20, 2019, roughly 2.5 years later. The Nintendo Switch OLED Model debuted on July 6, 2021, less than two years later. So you can understand the chronology here that after almost two years, they released a new device and this time too, but now it’s just one year added to it.
An article from the Chinese investment site MoneyDJ, which discussed the production outlook at Hongzhun, a producer of metal cases and a subsidiary of Hon Hai Technology Group, gave some credence to a release in the first quarter of 2024. MoneyDJ expected the company to profit from the release of the Switch 2, likely by producing hardware for the console.
Nintendo Switch 2 – Specs
We don’t think or expect to have a very different build-up for the upcoming device as previous ones were absolutely classic, and better upgrading the materials will be the best thing for the gamers.
We anticipate the company to improve on the Switch’s core features rather than completely overhauling it as it attempted to do with the transition from the Wii to the Wii U, as it did with the switch from the Nintendo DS to the Nintendo 3DS.
The CPU/GPU should be powerful, added ones and upgrades that the developers should look up to. The original is very simple, and sudden game crashing was the thing with the past devices.
We expect the processor to be more powerful, where The Tegra X1, which NVIDIA released in 2015, is the foundation of Switch. Nintendo is likely to follow this same course with the Switch 2 and rely on its next-generation SoC on yet another, more recent NVIDIA product.
As discussed above, Nintendo Switch and Nvidia are working together on the processor, and the name of it is T239. According to rumors, this processor can output 4K over HDMI 2.1. It could even enhance those games while maintaining backward compatibility with the library of the original Switch.
Nintendo Switch 2 – Other Info
Features
We could see a battery life boost where in the previous models the battery ran off life very fast, and it was very irritating. But we could see a boost on this feature, and well, it needs this one very badly. It would undoubtedly be more useful as a gaming machine on occasions like traveling if it had a larger battery.
The Joystick improvements are the feature that will surely make it much more appreciable by gaming fans. If Nintendo really does adhere to the Switch’s core design, we would also welcome some ergonomic improvements with the Switch 2.
Price
First, let’s have a quick view of other Switch models’ prices. Switch Lite is approx $199, where the first Switch is $299, and Switch OLED is $349. Now the Switch 2 will surely be placed in between these three.
As the most recent and superior model, the Switch 2 might be at the top of the list. Of course, Nintendo could eliminate the original Switch and reduce the price of the Switch OLED Model to make the Switch 2 feel more upscale. But as it becomes more powerful and luxurious, the price will hike, and we can get a range of $300-$400 as a selling price.
