Nintendo has no immediate plans to increase the price of the Nintendo Switch 2 again, according to company president Shuntaro Furukawa. Speaking during the company’s November 5, 2026, financial results briefing, Furukawa also indicated that Nintendo can currently secure enough memory components to meet its hardware requirements.
The update offers some reassurance to prospective buyers after Nintendo raised the Switch 2’s US price from $449.99 to $499.99 in September 2026. The company previously attributed the adjustment to rising component costs, including memory prices.
Nintendo Confident About Memory Availability and Switch 2 Sales
Furukawa also addressed concerns about the global memory shortage, saying Nintendo has seen no significant change in the supply situation. The company has been working with suppliers and believes it can secure sufficient quantities of memory components for its needs.
However, Nintendo has not ruled out future price adjustments under all circumstances. Its current position is that another increase is not being considered, rather than a guarantee that prices will remain unchanged indefinitely.
Despite the recent price adjustment, the Switch 2 continues to outperform the original Nintendo Switch when comparing their hardware sales at similar stages after launch. Nintendo’s latest financial report puts the newer console’s lifetime sales at 26.35 million units as of September 30, 2026, including 6.49 million units sold during the first half of the current fiscal year.
The latest comments suggest Nintendo is prioritizing stable hardware availability and continued adoption without planning another immediate price increase.
