The 4th generation Kpop group, NewJeans, has been making waves on the internet with its debut year’s song – “Ditto.” As the title suggests, it has garnered 500 million streams on Spotify, and that’s not a matter of joke. NewJeans made its debut last year under ADOR. To the newbies, it comprises five members – Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, and Hyein, respectively. When it comes to NewJeans, the group ushers the new generation of pop music, referring to the name as “new genes.”
In the middle of this year, more precisely in July, NewJeans released its second extended play – Get Up. As expected, it earned much success. Recently, on 4 December 2023, the group’s agency, ADOR, made an official announcement regarding NewJeans’ “Ditto,” reaching a milestone of 500 million streams on Spotify. In other words, the song has become a streaming phenomenon, and fans have already gone crazy.
As the news came out, fans started posting clips of the song “Ditto” on different social media platforms. That’s how the reach is increasing daily.
Well, it’s no longer an exception. Because “Ditto” also successfully made it to the top of South Korea’s streaming service- Melon. To be more precise, it previously ranked one and held it for 14 consecutive weeks.
The popularity of “Ditto” isn’t limited just to its origin – South Korea – but is also spread across the world. Not to forget to mention it also made a position in the US Billboard’s Hot 100. Being a member of its fandom- “Bunnies,” you will be happier to know that it happened just six months after their debut.
When it comes to NewJeans’ accolades for “Ditto,” the group earned the 2023 MAMA Awards and the 2023 Melon Music Awards. Congratulations, once again!
