In chapter 212, the cursed spirit Sukuna takes advantage of Megumi’s weakened state after using his shadow techniques. Sukuna quickly incapacitates Kurusu, tears off one of his own fingers to form a cursed object, and transfers all of his curse energy into it.
Despite Megumi’s attempts to resist, Sukuna overpowers and force-feeds him the finger, allowing Sukuna to take control of Megumi’s body after Yuji Itadori’s exorcism is complete.
This sets up a furious confrontation between Sukuna in Megumi’s body and Itadori in the next chapter.
For nearly a year after this, Sukuna remains in control of Megumi’s body while Yuji desperately tries to save his friend and get Sukuna out.
Finally, in the latest chapter, it is revealed that a new technique Yuji has learned is the key to saving Megumi.
Yuji is the only one now who can rescue his friend from Sukuna’s control. So while Megumi has been trapped by the powerful cursed Sukuna, his friend Yuji now has a way to potentially set him free once more.
Yuji and Yuta’s Coordinated Assault To Defeat Sukuna And Save Megumi
In this recent chapter, Yuta springs his trap on Sukuna by activating his Domain Expansion called True & Mutual Love. As soon as Yuta opens this domain, Sukuna reacts by deploying his Hollow Wicker Basket counter-technique.
Sukuna realizes at this moment that Yuta and Yuji have devised a coordinated plan to attack him.
Yuta intended to overwhelm Sukuna within his domain by unleashing endless copied curse techniques from multiple sources, which would force Sukuna to keep Hollow Wicker Basket active to defend himself.
This would leave Sukuna’s arms and mouth sealed shut by his own basket technique, opening him up to further assault.
This is where Yuji would execute the second phase of their plan. With Sukuna immobilized but still conscious, Yuji can utilize his recently revealed ability to directly strike at his opponent’s soul when he punches them.
Presumably, Yuji intends to use this to pry Sukuna’s grip off of Megumi’s body that he has possessed.
Up until now, Yuji has not openly displayed this soul-targeting aspect of his Cursed Technique. But based on Sukuna’s reaction here, confirms that Yuji’s punches can shake and disrupt a spirit or cursed entity at its core.
We briefly witnessed this back in chapter 244 when a punch from Yuji clearly disturbed Sukuna despite not seeming physically damaging.

Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 249 Confirms Kenjaku’s Death
Chapter 249 confirms that Kenjaku has been decisively beaten by Yuta and no longer has any tricks up his sleeve.
Despite being decapitated earlier, Kenjaku was somehow still able to use his Cursed Technique, but this proved futile against Yuta as he dealt the final blow by stabbing directly through Kenjaku’s head and exorcizing his brain.
This means there will be no rebirth or comeback for Kenjaku—the threat he posed has been definitively neutralized.
Harkening back to Kenjaku’s words when he was first decapitated, we now see his claim coming true that his “will” would live on after his death.
As Kenjaku stated, his will has been passed to Sukuna, who is now tasked with completing the merger between Tengen and humanity.
