The Insidious franchise is continuing its terrifying journey with a surprise announcement of its sixth installment. Despite rumors of the series ending, the fifth movie, released last year, raked in over $189 million globally, prompting Blumhouse to greenlight both a spinoff and a new sequel.
Sony has recently confirmed the release date for Insidious 6 on August 29, 2025, adding to the anticipation among horror fans. Details about the cast and crew are still undisclosed, but more information is expected to surface soon as pre-production gears up.
This new Insidious movie will not be Jeremy Slater’s previously reported spinoff but rather a continuation of the main storyline from the previous films. Slater’s project, “Thread: An Insidious Tale,” was announced last year and stars Mandy Moore and Kumail Nanjiani, but updates on its progress have been scarce.
Insidious: The Red Door, the fifth film, marked a significant moment in the franchise, as it was also actor Patrick Wilson’s directorial debut. Wilson shared in an interview last year that he took on the director’s role due to the excellent fit and the opportunity to collaborate again with Blumhouse, known for their expertise in horror.
Much like The Conjuring series, which has expanded with numerous spinoffs and sequels, Insidious seems poised to follow a similar trajectory, promising more scares and thrilling stories for horror enthusiasts.
