Exciting news for Black Clover fans in India! Netflix India is set to release the highly anticipated anime film, “Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King,” on June 16. The film was expected to release on March 16 but was unfortunately delayed due to Covid-19 spread amongst the production crew. Now, fans can dive into the Clover Kingdom once again with this new addition to the series.
Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King is an upcoming anime film based on the popular anime series Black Clover, which has gathered a massive fan following worldwide. Created by Yūki Tabata, the series is well-known for its action-packed scenes, intense magical abilities, and compelling characters.
Black Clover can be regarded as a starter anime for people wanting to get into the anime community, but undoubtedly, the anime series can come off as a repeat of other shounen anime with commonly written characters and arcs, but that doesn’t mean Black Clover is boring. The show puts forward an adrenaline-filled watch, leaving you enthusiastic and hyped after watching every battle scene. So let’s look at everything we know.
Sword of the Wizard King: Details
The anime film will be directed by Ayataka Tanemura and produced by Aniplex. Yuki Tabaka will supervise and handle the original character designs, with Itsuko Takeda designing the characters, Minako Seki composing the music, and Johnny Onda and Ai Orii writing the scripts. The theme song, Here I Stand, will be performed by Treasure. Hou
The film was originally set to release in Japanese theatres, but due to its delay, the theatrical screening was scrapped.
Yuki Tabata claimed, “Why didn’t you do this in the original [manga]?”, revealing that the storyline featured in the movie does not belong to the manga but will be an original story set in the Clover Kingdom universe.
The new cast includes Konrad Leto, voiced by Toshihiko Seki, Milly Maxwell, voiced by Marie Litoyo, Jester, voiced by Fumiya Takahashi, Princia, voiced by Miyuki Sawashiro and finally, Edward, voiced by Houchu Ohtsuka.
What will the Movie be About?
In a world where magic dictates social status, Asta and Yuno, two determined individuals, have faced countless powerful adversaries with proving their worth and rising above their limitations. Asta, a boy born without any magical abilities, and Yuno, a prodigious mage chosen by the revered “4-leaf Grimoire,” share the common dream of becoming the esteemed Wizard King.
Their dream isn’t so easy to achieve as they are stopped by Wizard Kings. Conrad Leto, the former Wizard King who was once adored by the people of the Clover Kingdom, has now turned against them, seeking to revive the fearsome trio of Edward Avalaché, Princia Funnybunny, and Jester Garandaros. To seize control of the Clover Kingdom, this threat hangs over Asta and Yuno, testing their willpower and pushing them past their limits.
Worth a Watch?
Black Clover has over 150 episodes, but is it all worthy enough to watch? Frankly, no, it’s not. That being said, I’ve watched every episode of the anime series. Each fight scene drags on for about 10 episodes and is then followed by a filler episode; so the series can get very tiring to watch.
Following the common Shounen story arc, we have two main characters, one seemingly powerless and the other the most powerful. Asta has no magic powers, but he’s aided by demons or black magic. Yuno, on the other hand, receives the luckiest and most powerful magic book in the kingdom.
The series can, sometimes, leave you at the edge of your seat, incredibly hyped as you watch Asta defy all odds and win against old-age Wizards. However, the series can also become repetitive and boring with all the filler episodes. If you’ve liked series like Hunter x Hunter or My Hero Academia, then Black Clover is your cup of tea, but it’s no doubt shadowed by better-executed shows like One Punch Man or Edens Zero.
