Netflix is expanding its adult animation lineup with new updates on Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2, Bass X Machina, and Blue Eye Samurai Season 2. The streaming platform has released new trailers or teasers and shared cast and production details for the three projects, which offer very different takes on action-driven animation.

Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 returns viewers to the dangerous world of Night City with a standalone, 10-episode story about revenge, obsession, and legacy. Bass X Machina, meanwhile, takes place in a lawless Steampunk West where a father must confront brutal outlaws, machines, and supernatural threats to protect his family. The limited series is scheduled to premiere in November.

Blue Eye Samurai Season 2 continues Mizu’s violent journey beyond Japan, taking the story to London while following the political dangers facing Akemi and Taigen back home. Its return is planned for January 2027. Together, the three shows highlight Netflix’s continued investment in mature animation, combining science fiction, supernatural Western action, and historical revenge drama for different audiences.

CYBERPUNK: EDGERUNNERS 2 RETURNS TO NIGHT CITY IN OCTOBER 2026

Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 premieres on October 20, 2026, with 10 episodes in a standalone story set in Night City. The series follows Weak, a washed-up cyberpunk legend struggling to find purpose without cybernetic enhancements, and D, a deadly nomad pursuing revenge who becomes entangled in dangerous corporate secrets.

Bartosz Sztybor serves as showrunner, while Kai Ikarashi directs the series. Studio TRIGGER handles animation. The announced voice cast includes Valeria Rodriguez as Roman Carax, Kimoy Lee as Talia Yang, Cesili Williams as Avida Yang, Daniel Wu as Kiril Yang, Brittany Lauda as Capri, and E.G. The new season explores family, obsession, and legacy through another story of people struggling to survive in a city that consumes its inhabitants.

BASS X MACHINA BRINGS STEAMPUNK WESTERN ACTION TO NETFLIX

Bass X Machina premieres on November 3, 2026, as a six-episode limited series animated by Studio Mir. Set in a lawless Steampunk West filled with violent outlaws, mechanical threats, and supernatural horrors, the story follows a father forced to become judge, jury, and executioner to protect his family.

However, his pursuit of justice threatens to destroy the very relationships he hopes to preserve. The series features Brian Tyree Henry as Bass, Janelle Monáe as Glory, Tati Gabrielle as Dana, Cree Summer as Ahni, Chaske Spencer as Lighthorse, Currie Graham as Rivenbark, and Starletta DuPois as Etta.

Henry, LeSean Thomas, Jennifer Wiley-Moxley, and Chad Handley serve as executive producers. Monáe also performs the theme song, “HONOR KiLLING.”

BLUE EYE SAMURAI SEASON 2 CONTINUES MIZU’S REVENGE STORY

Blue Eye Samurai Season 2 is scheduled to premiere in January 2027. Created by Amber Noizumi and Michael Green, the series follows Mizu as her bloody quest takes her to London, where new allies, old enemies, and personal struggles await.

The story will also return to Japan, where Akemi and Taigen navigate the dangers of Edo Castle under a new shogun. Meanwhile, Ringo searches for a new purpose. Blue Spirit remains the animation studio, with Noizumi and Green returning as executive producers.

The new season continues the show’s blend of historical drama, intense combat, and character-driven storytelling.

NETFLIX EXPANDS ITS GLOBAL ANIMATION LINEUP

The three series represent different corners of Netflix’s adult animation catalogue, from cyberpunk science fiction to supernatural Western action and historical drama. The platform also hosts animated hits such as Arcane, Love, Death + Robots, Devil May Cry, and Castlevania.

Netflix says its anime catalogue reaches more than 190 countries and regions, with subtitles and dubbing available in numerous languages. With these three productions, the company continues to invest in animation aimed at audiences looking for mature themes, distinctive visual styles, and action-driven storytelling.
