Netflix has acquired global streaming rights for Studio Ponoc’s anime film adaptation of A.F. Harrold and Emily Gravett’s novel, “The Imaginary.” The streaming giant will release the film worldwide later this year. Netflix also announced a multi-film partnership to exclusively bring Studio Ponoc’s animated features to its platform.
The cast includes Kokoro Terada, Rio Suzuki, Sakura Andō, Riisa Naka, Takayuki Yamada, Atsuko Takahata, Issey Ogata, Akira Terao, Hana Sugisaki, and more. The film, titled “Yaneura no Rudger” (Rudger in the Attic) in Japan, opened on December 15, earning 68,169,730 yen in its first three days.
Directed by Yoshiyuki Momose, the anime film adaptation of A.F. Harrold and Emily Gravett’s novel “The Imaginary” has been acquired by Netflix for global streaming. Yoshiaki Nishimura, known for his work on Studio Ghibli films, is producing the film.

A Great Big World featuring Rachel Platten performs the theme song “Nothing’s Impossible.” Bloomsbury Publishing initially released the novel in 2001, and the film opened in Japan on December 15, 2022.
