The second season of NCIS: Sydney, originally scheduled to return at the end of January, now has a new release date. According to a report by TVLine, CBS has postponed the premiere from Friday, January 31, to Friday, February 7, giving fans a week’s delay.
This unexpected change comes as CBS plans to air a special program on January 31, although Fire Country and S.W.A.T. will still air their original episodes as scheduled on that date.
Season 2 of NCIS: Sydney will be available live and on-demand for Paramount+ subscribers. Those with a Paramount+ with SHOWTIME subscription can watch the premiere live, while Paramount+ Essential subscribers will be able to view the episode on-demand the day after it airs.
The episode, titled “Heart Starter,” introduces a rogue assassin on the loose. The NCIS/AFP team will work tirelessly to crack the case, even if it means “waking the dead.” The action takes place during NCIS Special Agent DeShawn Jackson’s chaotic first day as the new boss of the team.
What Happened in the ‘NCIS: Sydney’ Season 1 Finale?
NCIS: Sydney is set in Sydney, Australia, and is the first spin-off of the NCIS franchise outside the United States. The show first premiered in November 2023, with the team being formed after a tragic event. A sailor from a U.S. submarine stationed in Sydney collapsed and fell into the water, dead.
The unusual circumstances surrounding his death led to a jurisdictional battle between the arriving NCIS Special Agent Michelle Mackey (played by Olivia Swann) and Australian Federal Police Sergeant Jim “JD” Dempsey (played by Todd Lasance). The series quickly gained attention, and Paramount+ in Australia renewed it for a second season in March 2024.
Fans of NCIS: Sydney who tuned in for the Season 1 finale on December 29, 2023, saw a dramatic cliffhanger. In the episode titled “Blonde Ambition,” JD’s nine-year-old son, Jack, was kidnapped by an international assassin disguised as a clown.
The kidnapper demanded Jack’s exchange for Xena, a mercenary who was in NCIS custody. The finale ended with the mystery deepening as Colonel Rankin seemed to be connected to the kidnapping. This leaves the upcoming season with a thrilling challenge as Mackey and JD’s team investigate a dark plot that threatens to shake the stability of their territory.
As the team prepares for Season 2, the stakes are higher than ever, with the lives of many hanging in the balance. Fans are eager to see how Mackey, Dempsey, and the rest of the team will deal with the challenges and threats ahead, especially following the intense cliffhanger from Season 1.
NCIS Special Agent DeShawn Jackson’s first day in charge promises plenty of action, drama, and mystery as the team works to solve complex cases.
Season 2 of NCIS: Sydney will air on Friday, February 7, and it is sure to bring more heart-stopping moments to fans. Stay tuned for more updates and news on the series, as NCIS fans eagerly anticipate the next chapter in this Australian spin-off.
