To put it simply cultural appropriation occurs when an individual or a group of people adopts certain traditional customs, practices, and ideas that are not their own. This is done usually for the purpose of profit or achieving a fashionable aesthetic.

In the comeback teaser of the group, the members have seemingly mocked the auspicious traditions of the Indian culture. It has been seemingly done through dancing to music that mimicked the traditional Indian songs. This was done by bringing the instruments in use that made sounds like bangles and ghungroos. The point to be noted is that both of them are one of the important aspects of Indian culture.

As the controversy grew into something big on the internet the Indian fans also got responses from many international fans who asked questions like, “Are they making fun of your culture?”.
