After 11 years of marriage, Natalie Portman and choreographer Benjamin Millepied are divorcing, according to a source. The split follows last spring’s rumors of Millepied’s infidelity, although neither had publicly addressed them.
Despite reports of their continued togetherness, a representative for Portman confirmed their quiet separation and divorce finalization in France this February.
Portman and Millepied first crossed paths in 2009 while working on the film Black Swan, where he served as her choreographer.
Their engagement ensued a year later, leading to the birth of their son, Aleph, in 2011 and a private wedding ceremony in Big Sur, California, in 2012. Maintaining a low profile, their marriage and personal life rarely made headlines.
In a recent interview, Portman expressed disdain for public scrutiny of her personal life, stating,
“It’s terrible, and I have no desire to contribute to it.”
Millepied and Portman are parents to two children: Aleph, 12, and Amalia, 7. According to a source, Portman’s primary focus is ensuring a smooth transition for her children during this time of change.
