Getting entangled in a murder mystery while grieving the loss of your mother isn’t something one would be excited by. Nancy Drew is a famous fictional character appearing in the mystery novels first created by Edward Stratemeyer. Nancy Drew is a mystery drama series brought to the viewers by The CW network on October 9, 2019. The television series takes inspiration from Edward Stratemeyer’s books of the same name.
Directed by Larry Tang and Amanda Row, the series focuses on a young Nancy determined to leave her small hometown to pursue higher education, only to get entangled in solving murder mysteries after the death of her beloved mother. Developed by Kennedy McMann and Josh Schwartz, the series became widely popular as it already had a massive fan base due to the books written by Edward.
Nancy Drew has run for three successful seasons, with the fourth one ongoing as of 2023. The series has 51 episodes in total, with each episode having a run-time of 40-44 minutes. Produced by Lis Rowinski and Noga Landau, the series stars Kennedy McMann portrays the character of Nancy Drew, a former teenage detective, and the series protagonist; Leah Lewis plays the role of Georgia, Nancy’s high-school nemesis, Maddison Jaizani plays the role of Bess Turani, an affluent city girl with a mysterious past.
Tunji Kasim plays the role of Nick, a football player, an ex-convict, and Nancy’s ex-boyfriend; Alex Saxon plays the role of Ace, The Bayclaw Side cook; Alvina August plays the role of Det. Nancy Drew- Premise
The story follows Nancy, who gets entangled in solving the murder mystery of Tiffany Hudson, an affluent lady from their neighborhood after her mother dies. Everyone in the small town is under suspicion of Nancy as she is determined to uncover their secret to cross them out of her list of suspicion.
During her investigation, Nancy finds a connection between Tiffany’s homicide to a decade-long case of urban legend. The series begins in Horseshoe Bay, Maine, a fictional town where a teenage Nancy has retired from solving mysteries and has started to work as a waitress during the gap year she took before re-applying for colleges after her mother died.
Her plan to retire from investigations derails after she, alongside her coworkers, discovers the dead body of Tiffany Hudson. Nancy takes the matter into her hand to solve the mystery of Tiffany’s murder after the police chief tries to frame her of Tiffany’s murder. Nancy teams up with her co-workers to prove her and their innocence in Tiffany Hudson’s murder case. Tiffany breaks into Ryan’s house to investigate and find clues for Tiffany’s murder.
During her investigations, she discovers her dad is having an affair with a cop, and her no-strings-attached lover Nick served time in jail after Tiffany testified against him in court. After learning that Tiffany’s corpse is being transported outside of the local town for a private autopsy, Nancy breaks into the morgue and takes Tiffany’s blood samples for investigation.
Nancy asks Georgia’s help in solving the mystery, but the latter angrily refuses to do so as she blames Nancy for her reputation of being a slut in high school. After Nancy’s investigation is over, she unveils the killer as it turns out the killer was Josh, Lucy’s half-brother, because he was targetting Ryan as he suspected him to be involved in Lucy’s death. The first season ends with Aglaeca sending Nancy’s crew a vision of how each of them will die, starting with George and Nick drowning, followed by Ace hanged on a meat hook, followed by Bess, who will burn to death, and in the end, Nancy will die by suicide.
The second season starts with Nancy’s crew looking for ways to survive Algaeca’s curse, and in the end, they defeat her using her own words. The crew didn’t kill the angry entity following Algaeca’s being free of her anger; she attaches herself to George’s dead body. On impulse to save Goerge, Nancy opens the Pandora box containing several magical objects alongside supernatural entities.
This leads to the crew solving several mysteries throughout the series. The second season ends with Nancy discovering her feelings for Ace and going on a quest to solve the wraith’s intentions of possessing her. The third season starts with Nancy being excited about her new journey as she awaits to go to Columbia University for further education.
It follows Nancy trying to solve yet another mystery after she discovers a dead body on the property of Hudson’s before she finally leaves for Columbia.

1. Surrey
Surrey is a non-metropolitan city located in British Colombia in Canada used by the production crew of Nancy Drew to film the historical societies of the fictional town of Horseshoe Bay. The exterior of the police department of Horseshoe Bay was filmed in Port Port Coquitlam City Hall.
2. Sunset Marina
Sunset Marina, located in Vancouver, was used by the production crew of Nancy Drew to film the Bayside Claw restaurant where Nancy used to work. The scene with Nancy and her co-workers discovering Tiffany’s dead body was filmed in this location.
3. Garry Park
Garry Point Park, located in Steveston, was used by the production crew of Nancy Drew to film the scenes with the Seawater Festival. The scene with a bucket of seawater placed outside to find the next death in the family during the Seawater Festival is filmed in this location.
