A survival show like no other, Naked and Afraid‘s newest adaptation featuring solo survivalists is all set to air a new episode this week. Taking 8 courageous men and women through all kinds of unforgiving environments, this version is going to show the true qualities a survivalist needs to make it through 3 weeks of ultimate wilderness.
First seen on television in the year 2013, Naked and Afraid started as a show that would put volunteering people in different parts of the world where there were no other humans nearby.
What makes it different from other survival series is that all contestants start with nothing special, not even their clothes. They have to start the 3 week’s challenge at the location assigned to them and make it out of the game without quitting.
The survivalists are only given a single machete and a bag containing a camera to film themselves during their journey through the wild. Although they are constantly in the presence of a camera crew, they are not allowed to talk to or take help from them. The challenge completes when the contestant arrives at the given location and is picked up by someone sent by the crew through either ship or helicopter.
Naked And Afraid: Solo: The Contestants
All 8 contestants of this spin-off are former Naked and Afraid players who either tapped out in between or could not complete the challenge for any other reason. Most of them have high PSR (Primitive Survival Rating), which makes them fit for doing all 21 days on their own. The contestants are:

Naked And Afraid: Solo Episode 1: Recap
In the previous episode, we see Cheeny in Africa being put into the chilly desert surrounding. Since she is a survival trainer, she has hope that it’d be easy for her to survive through the challenge solo and gain good experience from her time on the show.
Each of the contestants is given an SSR (Solo Survival Rating) throughout the episode. Cheney is given a score of 7.4. She comes across a catfish in the waterfall but decides to leave it for another day.
Back in Guyana, Suzanne starts her first challenge as a solo player. The last time she was on Naked and Afraid, she had to leave the show due to her partner wasn’t willing to help her do anything. She is given an SSR score of 6.9.
The place she is given is filled with bullet ants, making proper shelter her top priority. At Lion Springs, Fernando claims he is used to making quick decisions due to his job as a firefighter back in California.
After receiving his bag, he gets a bow and an arrow, a sport he had been practicing to make hunting easier. He is given an SSR of 8.1 due to his experience living in the wild. In Mexico, Kaila returns as a stronger survivalist as she tapped out in the last game where she was living in the Amazon. She is given an SSR of 7.3. She struggles to start a fire due to the high humidity around her.
Back in South Africa, Fernando has been trekking for around 4 hours and starts to feel thirsty. He comes across an elephant that leads him to find a spring of water. Shifting back to Kaila, we see that she is finally able to start a fire that would help her defend herself at night.
Naked And Afraid: Solo Episode 2: Release Date
The next episode of the Discovery survival series will be released on March 19th, 2023. New episodes of Naked and Afraid: Solo will be aired on Sundays, with each episode lasting around 60 minutes.
Naked And Afraid: Solo Episode 2: Spoilers
In the upcoming episode, we will be introduced to two new survivalists as well as have an update on Cheeny, Fernando, Suzanne, and Kaila. The new contestants, Terra and Jamie, each start their redemption journey. Where Terra decides not to take her fire starter with her, and Jamie decides to overcome his shortcomings from his last appearance on Naked and Afraid.
