The one-hour version of the opening song’s intro, “Shikanokonokonokokoshitantan,” from My Deer Friend Nokotan has hit 1 million views on TWIN ENGINE’s official channel.
The opening theme, “Shikairo Days,” is performed by the anime’s Deer Club, featuring the main cast. Premiering on July 7, 2024, the celebration included sharing an illustration reminiscent of THE FIRST TAKE channel’s iconic thumbnails.
WIT Studio animates the series, with Masahiko Ohta directing, Takashi Aoshima handling script and composition, Ayumu Tsujimura designing characters, and Yasuhiro Misawa composing the music.
The cast includes Megumi Han as Noko Shikanoko, Saki Fujita as Torako Koshi, Rui Tanabe as Anko Koshi, Fuka Izumi as Meme Bashame, Yurika Kubo as Neko Nekoyamada, Rio Tsuchiya as Kinu Tanukikoji, and Chinatsu Akasaki as Chiharu Tsubameya.
Adapted from Oshioshio’s manga, My Deer Friend Nokotan began in Kodansha’s Shonen Magazine Edge in November 2019, transitioning to the Magazine Pocket website in December 2023. Seven Seas Entertainment has licensed the English version.
The plot follows Torako, who hides her delinquent past behind a perfect student facade. Her life turns upside down with the arrival of Nokotan, a new student with antlers and an uncanny knack for sniffing out Torako’s secrets.
Nokotan’s antics, whether at school or the zoo, stir up constant chaos, leaving Torako wondering about her true nature—is Nokotan a deer, a girl, or something in between?
