Sci-Fi fans are over the moon to see Muv-Luv Alternative coming back with Season 2 of the anime. With an engaging plot of humanity trying to survive the utter defeat of the world and resorting to the last choice they have- find a new home in space. The plot revolves around Takeru Shirogane, who is part of a world that is going through a three-decade-long war against the BETA—an alien species that invaded the planet in 1973.
Takeru Shirogane suddenly has a terrifying nightmare that shows him the utter defeat of mankind. But what comes as a twist to the anime is that these nightmares are from his life in an alternative universe! According to his memories and alternative life3 experience- a project is implemented, which is termed to be Alternative V, in which hundreds of thousands of people are sent into space to preserve humanity while leaving the remaining billion on Earth to suffer a cruel fate of possible death.
To change the fate of humanity and stop the Alternative V project- Takeru joins a military base in Yokohama (also his former high school). With limited time he tries to convince Professor Yuuko Kouzuki- the base’s vice-commander and leader of the Alternative IV project to prevent Alternative V from happening.
However, to do this, he needs to complete Alternative IV, and for this, he is required to take charge and pilot Tactical Surface Fighters (TSF)- a huge humanoid machine alongside his fellow members of the base. The anime is packed with light comedy, adventure, suspense, and, most importantly, the time band of saving humanity since he has only two months to complete his training. The first 12 episodes were aired in Season 1 of Muv-Luv Alternative in Fall 2021 from 7th October 2021 to 23rd December 2021.
As the end of the 12th episode was approaching- fans were already sure that they were going to wish for a second season, and the creators definitely didn’t disappoint the weebs as the announcement preview of the second season was shown at the end of the episode itself! The teaser video of Season 2 played after the end of Season 1 during the Japanese Broadcast, and the first episode of Season 2 was set to release in the Fall of 2022.

Muv-Luv Alternative: Recap (Spoilers Alert)
The second season picks off with Takeru trying to save the world and returning to his original world while trying to hunt down the formulas derived by Kouzuki Yuuko. These formulas are very important key elements for Alternative IV. As he returns to this world, he realizes that he and his friends are graduating and finally becoming regular surface pilots (from squad 207B).
A new TSF operation system, “XM3,” is put to the test. His squad manages to head on with the veteran pilots by taking help from the capabilities of the XM3 system. This moment is cut short when BETA shows up. Takeru being himself wants to charge against BETA, but he is reminded of how strong the enemy is and that he cannot do anything to them.
On the other hand, Shirogane Takeru tried to change the future, which ended up in the death of Jinguuji Marimo. Takeru escapes to his original world and is happy to see that this world’s Marimo is still safe. The Japanese anime series will be releasing the third episode, which will pick up to examine how Takeru will cope with the changing timelines and save humanity.
