Magilla Entertainment’s supposed “Illegal” activity show, Moonshiners, will soon air another episode this week. Revolving around various moonshiners, the show is a docu-drama, that features the processes they go through to make alcoholic beverages. Based on the recent episode, the moonshiners seem to be hurriedly making as much alcohol as they can, as their local detective is away for a few days.
Moonshiners was first seen on television on December 6th, 2011. It began with the warning that it contained illegal processes of extraction, which can land someone in jail. As the series grew popular, it attracted the attention of local officials, who came out with word saying that none of the activities they did were illegal, and were dramatized for grabbing viewers’ attention.
Nonetheless, this Discovery channel series is one of the most interesting shows to see if you’re into knowing how things are made, especially all kinds of alcoholic beverages. The methods and materials they use are often old and traditional, with even the ingredients being bought from local vendors or straight up being plucked from the trees.
Over the years, Moonshiners has featured several distillers as well as law enforcers. Only a few remain and carry the legacy of the show. Most of the filming and alcohol-making takes place in the Appalachian Mountains. The name Moonshiners comes from the practice of extracting alcohol illegally in the old days, which usually took place at night in presence of moonlight.
Moonshiners: The Cast
Each Moonshiner has their way of doing things. They also each have their diverse tastes and often compete to make the best moonshine in the area. This series has about 3 spin-offs by now. The moonshiners we now see often on the show include Mike, Jerry, Mark, Digger, Richard, and Daniel to name a few. These are the moonshiners involved in the latest episodes.
Richard is new to the area but has been trying his best to make a good moonshine that could compete with others. Mike and Jerry have been working together on a secret alcoholic beverage, and are trying their best to get the work done before they get caught.
Moonshiners Season 12 Episode 7: Recap
In the episode that was aired on December 14th, 2022, we see the crew trying to utilize the detective being on leave to the fullest. They start collecting the ingredient and come across the news that one of their well-known sellers has got ahold of tonnes of sugar. Now, sugar may seem ordinary to us, but for these moonshiners, sugar is often the most expensive ingredient.
They meet up with the seller who confirms that he has about 20,000 pounds of sugar, that he got from an acquaintance. The crew members buy the sugar for cheap. Mike and Jerry on the other hand are busy collecting their new special ingredient, Mimosa flowers. Although they seem inedible, these flowers are completely edible and can impart a honey-like flavor accompanied by a grassy smell.
Richard sets up a new plant, as his old barrels had gotten stolen. He didn’t want to go through another loss and wanted to make a special drink that would be able to outshine all other local beverages. His secret ingredient is cardamom. He couples it with a bunch of sweet peaches he buys from a vendor.
