tvN’s ‘Monstrous’ is one of the most hyped k-dramas that didn’t stand up to the fans’ expectations. The supernatural k-drama followed two archeologists trying to solve a mystery behind a mysterious statue in the countryside. While the fans found the k-drama very typical, wasted potential, and not at all fitting in the horror genre, one thing that the fans weren’t angry about is the cast. The cast members of the k-drama ‘Monstrous’ have delivered an amazing performance despite the story having a lot of limitations. From start to end, the acting is the only aspect where one can overlook the faults of ‘Monstrous’.
The story follows Jung Ki Hoon, an archeologist who’s been working as a supernatural investigator for a long time. But because of one event in past, Ki Hoon decided to take a break from the adventure. He starts publishing an occult magazine named ‘Monthly Strange Story’ and also runs a YouTube channel with the same name. But as his wife and fellow archeologist Lee Soo Jin decide to go to Jinyang County to research about “Gwibul” i.e. a Buddhist statue that is known to be possessed by an evil spirit, he has no other option but to follow her.
And while they are looking for the answers in the countryside, the people of Jinyang County are all going through an incredibly bizarre phenomenon.
