Monster Hunter: World sold another 1.17 million copies during the first half of Capcom’s fiscal year 2026, demonstrating the game’s remarkable staying power nearly nine years after its original release. According to Capcom’s financial results presentation for the six months ending September 2026, the action RPG has now reached 30.83 million units in lifetime sales.

The latest figures highlight how Capcom continues to generate substantial revenue from its established games alongside newer releases. Despite launching in January 2018, Monster Hunter: World remains one of the publisher’s biggest commercial successes and continues to attract players years after its debut.

Monster Hunter: World Outsells Newer Releases During the Reporting Period

Capcom’s financial report records 1.17 million additional sales for Monster Hunter: World during the six-month period. Its cumulative total of 30.83 million units places it among the company’s most successful games.

The result is particularly notable given the age of the release. Monster Hunter: World introduced several changes that helped broaden the franchise’s appeal, including more seamless environments, improved accessibility, and an expanded multiplayer hunting experience. Players hunt large monsters, collect materials, and craft equipment to take on increasingly challenging encounters.

The game’s continued sales also stand out alongside the performance of newer titles. Capcom’s second-quarter sales update, as described in the supplied reference, notes that Monster Hunter: World outsold Monster Hunter Wilds during the quarter. However, this comparison concerns the specific reporting period and does not establish that World has higher lifetime sales than the newer game.

The sales milestone comes during a strong financial period for Capcom. Its financial results for the six months ending September 30, 2026, show that the company sold 36.86 million game units, representing a 54.5% increase compared with the same period in the previous fiscal year. Catalogue titles accounted for 32.18 million units, underlining the importance of games that have been available for years.

Capcom also attributed increased sales across its Monster Hunter back catalogue to announcements surrounding Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance, the upcoming expansion scheduled for 2027, and the planned Nintendo Switch 2 release of Monster Hunter Wilds. The publisher said these announcements helped boost sales of earlier games in the franchise.

With Monster Hunter: World approaching its ninth anniversary in January 2027, its latest sales figures demonstrate the long-term value of Capcom’s established games. The company’s financial results show that older releases remain a major part of its business, even as it introduces new titles and expands existing franchises.
