The premise of the film is pretty simple, Teenage offspring of famous monsters attend a high school called Monster High in the made-up American town of New Salem. The other ghouls use Boogey Sand to turn into ghosts so they can follow Spectra Vondergeist when she returns to her old ghost school to learn why Monster High is haunted. They learn that the principal burdens students with horrifying rules and detention chains, which is why morale is low there.
